Anyone take both? IF so ... how would you compare the verbal sections? Curious! 😕

I think it would be difficult to compare the two. Gmat has sentence completion , a longer writing section and grammar i think

I took GRE before, and that's probably similar to GMAT. At least GRE verbal is easier than MCAT verbal.

Took the GMAT awhile ago so I could be a TPR GMAT teacher. Did well, don't remember my actual score, seem to think MCAT is tougher. I think it's tougher than all the others, but that's just me.

I recently took the GMAT (may '04). My score was 42v, 49Q, which translated to a 750.

IMO, the verbal section on the GMAT is much easier. As you probably know, the skills tested in the GMAT is significantly different from those tested on the MCAT.

i) My initial weakness was the sentence correction section. Many of the problems test obscure grammatical usages. English isn't my first language, so I learned grammar through assimilation instead of formal lessons. As you can probably guess, listening to presidential speech on TV is no way to learn English. That said, I felt like this was the easiest section to improve upon.

ii) The critical reasoning is fun! many of the stuff I learned from solving critical reasoning problems are helpful for the MCAT. In particular, being able to pick out assumptions, and make inference.

iii) Reading comprehension: GMAT was MUCH easier. Passages were shorter and questions were less confounding.

are you planning on doing the MBA/MD thing?

Thanks for your response. I figured that would be the case. I took the GMAT last year and I'm in an MBA program right now. I just recently decided to go to med school as well so I wish I could transfer into a MBA/MD program, but I'm halfway done and some classes are so much different 🙁 Plus I don't want to have to limit myself and what schools would and wouldn't accept my MBA credits. Sucks, but not every path is straight 🙂
