Going for dds... Having a question...

hey i am going for dds in illinois on seats of foreign trained dentists... i have a question.. after completing my dds i am planning to do job in dental college ....... so for that do i have to pass through licensure exams??????????? m not planning for private pactice....

You would still have to take the NBDE exams-part 1 n 2 to get admission into dental schools.Have to take TOEFL also.While doing DDS you run up debts to the tune of $ 100-150 K.I am not so sure you can pay it off by working in a college.Besides if all you want to do is work in a college and do no private practice,you can go for some post-grad degree and start working.You will save yourself time,money and a lot of effort.Hope this helps!

Licensure exams are conducted by stateboards for practising in that particular state after you have graduated from a dental school.Are you confused between NBDE and licensure exams?

u didnt get me dude. i got admission in illinois.... i have taken student loan... college orientation is afta week.... my question is i ll do my dds here.... afta completing it... i dont want to do private practice.... and i want to do job in a hospital as a dds..... for that will i have to go for license exam????

You dont work as a civil engineer if you work in a hospital, u'll still be called a dentist just like in a private clinic..
so yes you will have to give your licensure exam to practice anywhere.

I have a question for you, are you going for a DDS at illinois, so had you take NBDE I?? or how you did?? please I want to go for DDS too.
