going OOS in gap year? effect on state residence

I am currently an NY state resident. For my gap year, I am planning to work OOS during the cycle. So I will apply in May or June of 2023 and move to another state in like September. I know it would affect my residency for tuition purposes, but I was wondering if that will affect my in-state residency as an independent in terms of admissions. I would really appreciate if it anyone could clarify this for me.

Hi OP. You should be ok... usually they base in-state status on what you list on your application. To be safe, you can keep your NY address on your tax return if you goal is a SUNY medical school with in-state tuition.
