Hi,

I was wondering if there is anyone else who is planning on going to USF next year. Right now I go to UF and I plan on doing the Summer Premaltric program.

this was posted recently in the pre-allo forum. can anyone confirm, deny, or otherwise comment on this please?

umm... i heard that the moffitt cancer center (recently?) separated itself from usf. also heard a rumor that usf is in danger of losing a lot of its funding and accreditation. anyone know whether this is true? a ph.d. and several m.d.s who work with my husband told him that they would choose almost any u.s. school over usf. it's too bad too, because usf is close to the top of my husband's list and their admissions staff is so great.

What are you smoking? Moffitt is still associated with USF, and USF is not in any danger at all of losing it's funding or accreditation; In fact, funding keeps increasing every year, and our curriculum is held up as a model for change in the 21st century. Choose USF over UF. UF has lame people (both staff and students due to their inane admissions policies) and the facilities aren't that great.

I beg to differ, as I am totally cool.

there are always exceptions to the rule...

relax - i'm not smoking anything and i didn't believe this when i saw it since my parents live in tampa and there hasn't been anything in the papers about this. but quite frankly it's kinda scary, so i just wanted to make sure it wasn't true.

I think all the rumors circulating are probably residual effects of the Dean of the USF medical school being forced to resign because of his involvement with illegal congressional campaign funding/conflicts of interest.

As much as I appriciate being singled out as exceptional, I really must beg to differ with your original post. USF and UF were my top two choices for medical school, and I'd have to say that in my decision making process, I detected about equal "lameness" at both institutions.

Now, being a student at UF, I am obviously biased, but have to state my opinion that I have a great set of non-competitive and supportive (95+%) classmates. I also truly feel that our professors are much more student-friendly than most schools. And what exactly about our facilities do you not like? I get the feeling that the only thing inane about UF's admissions policies is that they are too tough.

Granted, I only have experience at UF, and hearsay from other sources, but regardless, I am extremely happy here.

you're going to love USF... it's the bomb 👍

Both schools are fine. I'm a resident at USF (Emergency Medicine) and I think the USF students are exceptionally strong, especially compared to a lot of students that have worked under me. However, I've also seen a few stinkers. Biggest decision maker should be where you want to live for 2-4 years, and the tuition cost. Other than that there's no difference between most schools!

Q, DO

This is a really specific question, but I thought I'd post it here before calling the Student Affairs office to ask. My question is pretty simple: At USF, do guys need to wear dress pants for patient encounters, or are khakis acceptable? Obviously, dress shirt, tie, and white coat would also be part of the outfit, but I need to know whether to get khakis or pants.
