Any Seattle pre-dents out there who have had a very positive experience, or negative experience, with a specific dentist?

I'd like to get a head start on who to start shadowing in terms of shadowing a dentist who actually wants you there lol..

But if you have any names of goooood dentists to shadow, can you PM me some?

I think it's better to keep the names of dentists anonymous on a public forum like this. If you need suggestions from Seattle pre-dents you should join the D.D.S. club at UW in the fall.

I don't live in Seattle, but I'm from there. My personal dentist was great though (at the time I was living there) - check your PM for the name.

However, SeattleRDH hit it on the nail. You should join that club. Also, in my opinion, you should whip up the yellow pages and start calling offices. Just simply tell them you're interested in dentistry and would like to shadow to further your knowledge about the career. That's all. The worst answer you could get is a "no." Even then, just thank them for being upfront and honest and wish them good luck. Down to the next name...This is if you really want to observe something. I wouldn't mention this if I hadn't done it myself. It has worked for me!

One other piece of advice...Don't stay too long in one practice.I'd say 1 week is enough. 2 weeks is somewhat pushing it. Diversify your experiences, meaning to check out the specialties as well - large clinics, small clinics, public health clinics, military/VA setting, etc. I'm pretty sure you could shadow at the UW Dental clinic too (I'm allowed to shadow at a dental school near where I live).

Good luck!!
