At the dental school interview, how does a person know whether or not the school is a good fit? What things should a person look for while at the school in order to make sure that the school is a good fit for him/her?
While researching a school, what things should a person learn about the school in order to make a smart decision about his or her choice? Basically, how does a person know whether or not a school is right for him/her? Thanks.

Not to be mean, but..this is like asking someone for advice on what type of dog you should own. no one knows better than yourself

Think about YOUR preferences, we can't do that for you. All I can say is think of the BIG categories (location, class size, research vs clinical, tuition, curriculum style, and the list goes on!). Go to the school websites and find stuff you like about the school. At interviews, talk to students about what they like. The school with the most aspects you like would most likely be the best fit school for you. I'm sure you made many choices on what to buy, what to wear. this should not be any different. dont make it too hard, best of luck!

Any dental school is a good fit if you want to be a dentist right?

I'd look at location & cost... not really in that order lol.

I understand, but let's say you receive 5 acceptances, hypothetically... how do you choose? lol

Crooked castle answered your question. What else do you need to know? Money/cost/location/happiness/curriculum/opportunities. I'm sure you can look at the pos. and negatives of each.

you sound very familiar ( at least your posts) to someone who was once "beautiful1" .....😉

baby girl, let's say you have 5 sexy/cute outfits (or dental school acceptances). Each one is slightly different, but you like them all because, afterall, you bought them (interviewed there and got accepted).

Now, how would you choose amongst them? You pick what you feel is right and what aspects you like about these outfits. Maybe one is a basic color but stunning (great basic clinical school) and one has sequins/technical design and lots of bling bling sparkles (great school for future specialization). OR maybe one fits super tight on you that you cant breathe but you look awesome (super expensive tuition but super new buildings) and one is more free flowing but not that glamorous (less expensive tuition, maybe a bit older buildings). Look at it this way, then you can slowly eliminate them and narrow your choices down.

Try this thought process.

for me personally... I would look at overall cost of the 4 years (including living expense), I will consider 2 schools to be "tuition different" if the difference of the 4 years is 50k or more.

Then I would look at overall comfort level of the interview day, how were the students who gave us the tour, were they nice, friendly and had good sense of humor? or where they sorta anti-social, felt like they were there cause someone forced them, and didn't really have any enthusiasm when answering our questions? Another thing I look for (and value) heavily is the clinical years.... do students have their own chair? or do they have to share it? whats the patient pool like? do students sometimes struggle to meet some of their clinical requirements?

The last thing I look at is the location, as you can tell, location isn't very important for me
