I recently got an 82 composite PCAT score, although I got an 87 on chemistry, quantitative, and reading comp, the verbal dragged the composite down.

My GPA is 3.2, which I know sucks, but I mad all A's this summer, which I think was 7-8 total credits, and I am determined to make A's this fall. I was in the military for a little while and played football for Florida State Univ. I applied to UF, Mercer, and USC (south carolina).

Do I have chances there with these scores? I am trying to find one more school to apply to that I may have a good chance of getting into in the southeast. I reside in Florida, but don't like FAMU or Nova. Any other ideas guys?

I looked at Auburn, Palm Beach Atlantic, and Wingate (NC) during my admissions. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that Auburn requires a lot of prereqs uncommon for many pharmacy schools and PBA is in an expensive area and has a religious component.

I would also check the NAPLEX passage rate at any prospective school too when choosing that last school of yours.

Can you get an LOR from Bobby Bowden? Nevertheless I wouldn't use such a LOR to send to Florida for obvious reasons.😉

Ha tell me about it, if I get an interview I am going to end with, "I just want to conclude with, I know I made a mistake in choosing a school in Florida for my undergrad and becoming a seminole, I would like nothing more than to correct this error and become a part of a school that wins championships in this day in age." haha

I am taking PCAT again in August and I should do much better. I didn't really study for the last one because I had 4 classes this summer, but I have 0 classes in August which should help.

Yes I am I will have my degree in Chemistry in spring, were you referring to in-state students having a GPA advantage or just UF students?

Will the degree help me?

*waving* hey fellow nole! i'll be applying to UF as well...right now, it's my ONLY choice!...good luck!...oh..and btw, UF only looks at your prereq gpa, not your overall gpa...is your prereq gpa higher than 3.2?

Not sure, but my science GPA is 3.3. I am really nervous about getting in anywhere. I am hoping to make around a 90 on the PCAT next time around but even with that I am extremely nervous.

How about LECOM-Bradenton? I went to the open house in February and it was a very nice facility. I was accepted there for Fall 2007, but decided to go with UF at the St. Pete campus.

LECOM has rolling admissions, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances. Good luck!

Interesting, I will look into it. I am praying that I'll do good enough on my next PCAT so that I can get into UF!

Are my scores even competitive?

Yes, your score is competitive. I know two people who got accepted for Fall 2007 with PCAT scores in the upper 70's. I believe their GPAs were competitive as well though. One had like a 3.8-something, and I don't know the other person's, but she was in my Physics classes and seemed pretty bright. Neither one of them nor myself had any pharmacy experience. And we all got into UF. Also, we all did our pre-reqs at a community college.

Thanks for the response! That definitely makes me feel a lot better, especially now that I know exactly what will be on the PCAT and have time to raise it. I am also happy because I submitted my supplemental pretty much the day it started and my PharmCAS app. got sent out 3 days ago with the first batch of apps so I am hoping the fact that everything is in early will really help me.

Did all of you live in Florida? I have lived in Florida all of my life and am currently attending Florida State Univ.

Yes, we all live in Florida. And we are all "mature" (not in our 20's). 🙂

Haha give me some credit here, at least I'm 23 and not 19 or 20 like some of these youngins!

oh, I apologize if I offended anyone...when I used the word "mature" I only meant it as a kinder synonym for the word "old" or "older" -- I didn't mean to imply that anyone in their 20's is "immature"
