  1. Pre-Podiatry
Hi everyone!
My name is Michele, and I'm a junior at Rutgers (go knights!). I just finished shadowing a local podiatrist and can't wait to get into podiatry school. I'm finishing off my pre-reqs this summer (2009), however I didn't plan on taking the MCATs until October or November and then applying afterwards (I'm taking Organic Chem. this summer and figured I need it to score well on the MCATs). Is this a bad decision? Should I just apply in September without MCAT scores (cGPA-3.4 sGPA-3.3), or should I attempt to take a Kaplan class and take the MCATs in May sometime?
Also, I was thinking about getting a reflexology certification- perhaps it would give me a alternative perception about foot-care. The class is expensive; do you guys think it’s a good pre-pod investment?
Thank you so much and good luck to you all!

take the mcats in the summer. organic is only 30 percent or so of the bio section. taking that one class and studying for the mcat should not be aproblem, so you can apply sometime in september. i finished orgo 2 in late july and took the mcat on aug 22nd and did fine.

buuttttttt.....you would probably be fine applying in the late fall

wait...organic I in the summer?

and no. an expensive certificate would be unnecessary i would think

I would honestly suggest taking the MCAT after you have taken O-Chem 2. I took it between O-Chem 1 and 2 and it definately dropped a couple of points off of the score. Plus it will probably be a little less stressful knowing that you are fully prepared. You should be fine applying without your MCAT scores and then adding them once you get them in. GL
