I got a D in stats and I will be retaking it in the Fall. I'll be applying this summer so the grade will be pending. other then this D my pre-req GPA is pretty solid, without the D its probably a 3.6.

I'm also worried because my math grades are pretty crappy. B+ in precalc, and a D "Applied Calculus". It was an architecture calculus class, not really calc 1. I should have done better obviously, but now I have to live with it. How will this hurt my chances? What should I do to fix this?

There's nothing you can really do to fix it on your application. The grade is what it is. You have to put down what classes you plan to take in the fall, so you just have to hope that schools recognize you are retaking stats and attempting to replace the grade.

The D in stats hurt you more than the applied calculus. Yup, retake that stats class. I actually retook all my D and F courses before applying expect for a geography which I got a D in. Didn't seem like a problem, as long as I explained it.. If asked during the interviews. The most important thing is not to have anything below a B in prerqs and an overall of a 3.0

Retake it. You have no choice. It's a pre-requisite and you can't get accepted with D's in any of your pre-requisites. It'll be a D until you retake it and get a passing grade. You don't need an A. Just pass. It's not a major class.

I most definitely will be retaking the course, but will applying with a D in Stats disqualify me from being accepted any where? .........D/Pending grade.

Yes and no. It will most likely burn you if you are applying to rolling admissions schools because they offer a good amount of interviews and acceptances before the academic update. For programs that don't do rolling you might have a chance after the update.

Could you re-take it during the summer semester? Check to see if the programs you are applying to will accept online course credits, if so, taking it online through a community college might be a good option, then you won't have the glaring 'D' all the way through the fall.

I'm thinking about this now. Gonna look into it this week. How good of an idea is this, won't i still have a D from my current University.

Also, thanks for everyone's help btw.

It is the best idea. Either way you will have the D. A least if you take it in the summer, the schools will see the better grade. Just take it in the summer. A big FAT D in prerqs looks horrible.

Everyone control their erections.... Looks like I'll be taking Stats at community college, thanks for your help guys.

I'm gonna be taking psyc stats over the summer instead of mathematical stats. I figure this is my best option since mathematical stats ins't being offered.

Sounds ok?

What were you sleeping?!?! The best option would've been to drop or withdraw from Stats!

I'm somewhat in the same situation as you are. I have two D's and I was planning on applying for the Fall but I still dont know if i can or should, especially with that much hurting my GPA and looks of how my application may be. I mean, i know a lot of people would say to either apply and explain, and others would say wait til the next cycle comes around rather than pushing it all in and stressing yourself out. With my two D's, it definitely hurts my GPA but I know that those don't reflect my academics, but i don't know if it would be any purpose for me to apply with that on my application....Need more suggestions also. I really want to apply and hopefully not having to wait a year for to apply again...
