Be logical about this...reign in the hysteria and ask the essential question: Is my UG GPA able to meet the minima for SOPs? Normally, this is about 2.7. If so, you are eligible to have an application considered.

Without taking the PCAT, you are eligible for consideration at a very small number of SOPs, and that reduces your odds. Your options expand greatly once you have a PCAT that is at or above 50%. Ignore the mythologies that one must have a PCAT in the 90s to secure a seat. Statistically, such is not possible given the number of PCAT takers/number of seats available.

You must also inventory your assests: experience, maturity, and 2 completed prior degrees. Over 60% of all applicants in the coming cycle will not have these.

The process allows you to control much of your destiny: you recruit your LORs; you craft your Personal Statement; you manage any interview performances; you choose to act proactively with specific SOPs of interest.

My advice is just begin the process if you are serious about it. Like any other journey, it begins with a first step, much of the activity is dull, much of the scenery is not flashy, but eventually you get to a destination.

View from the corner office:

After 20+ years in this business, I ought to have figured out a few key things. Thanks for the strokes. It's been a very busy week and I find the interaction at SDN to be very rewarding.

I'm happy to provide whatever advice I can on and off-line.

Enjoy the long weekend....I intend to.
