"Pancreas,
So how do you like it at Wayne. Do you like the program and the campus?"
Well, there's not much of a "campus" at Wayne, since the Pharmacy school is off the undergraduate Wayne State Campus. I guess the official term for where the pharmacy school is located is the "medical campus" which is home to the medical school and the Detroit Medical Center. All the pharmacy classes are in the pharmacy building (Eugene Applebaum) and there is a parking structure right across the street. There's also a nifty (and quite handy) Starbucks that opened a block or so away from the pharmacy school.
As for the curriculum, I guess my only comment is that no matter where you go to pharmacy school, you'll get the essentials. Some schools will have certain classes that are tougher, and certain classes that may be easier. One thing that I've noticed from reading the SDNF (I found this place when I was a P2) is that most pharmacy schools have a separate class for medicinal chemistry. This is not the case at Wayne. The med chem is thrown in with the therapeutics ("module") classes. So for example, when you get to the cardiology module, you will have a separate lecture on various hypertension meds, beta blockers, etc. It must be a lot easier the way we do it, because I've seen SO MANY posts from students at other pharmacy schools that complain about how difficult med chem is. This is not the case at Wayne. So in that respect you kind of luck out at Wayne. I'm not sure how this affects things in the long run for potential pharmacists though. From what I've heard though, Wayne has the highest pass rate of the boards out of all three pharm schools in Michigan.
If you, or anyone else, has any particular questions about Wayne, etc, feel free to pm me.
Good luck to all of you that have interviews.
