Got an Unauthorized withdrawal

Took a 3000 level biology class and I've been having mental health issues. I was failing the class (class average was like a 65) and I bombed the first and second test. This was after the eighth week and I couldn't withdraw so my prof gave me an unauthorized withdrawal.

At my uni, it appears as a Z but has no effect on my GPA so will it affect my GPA when I apply for medical school or not?

Honestly, it's more important that you get your mental health in order before you even consider entering medical school.

Get your issues under control and be prepared to answer a few questions about why you got a withdrawal.

It's not going to be a serious effect on your chances if you can do that.

Is it possible for you to attempt to retake the course to have the grade replaced? I also had an unofficial withdrawal for my capstone - because apparently I did it before I was allowed to (1 seminar class short) - and they replaced the grade when I did it again the next semester. Not sure if this is standard protocol, but it's worth asking.

The grade doesn't get replaced even if I take it. I just wanna know if the "Z" grade gets averaged into the average on AMCAS
