So I took my Part I's in August, our school gave us a month break, I studied for ~10 days prior to my exam about 10-12 hours a day. I looked through the First Aid book once, got through the dental decks once, and looked at half of a released exam.

I ended up getting an 85 on the test, which is one of those scores where's it's not bad, not great. I'm not really sure what I want to do in the future regarding specialties, but my grades aren't the greatest so if I did do anything I'd need a good board score to keep me competitive.

I realize that in 2010 you won't be able to retake the exam, so I'm trying to decide if I should retake it. I'm in classes right now so it's harder to study, I was just curious what people thought about retaking it, do most people do better? Is there a significant risk of getting a lower score (is there a lot of variation in the difficulty of the tests?) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey man...Awesome score for the amount of studying you put in!

My school also gave us a month off, and I have been going through the first aid book, then planning to go over old exams and decks if I have time.

I only want to pass and was wondering if you can tell me your raw score?

Do you think first aid, decks and old exams are more than enough review material for the real thing??

Thanks

DDS,

Look into the Dental board busters book and get into all the old tests you can get your hands on. I did that and did very well. Good luck.

Hi DMD,

Thanks for the advice. I am almost done going through First Aid, and will then start going through as many old tests I can get my hands on! I don't think I will have time to buy the DBB book and go through it. However if I would have known before, I would have looked into that first than first aid.

Did you feel going over old exams helped you the most to achieve your score?

Thanks
D.D.S.

DDS,

The tests helped me out immensely. They are a must. The board busters book helped me the most being that it had old exams embedded into the definitions as bolded statements. Get your hands on as many as tests as you can. Good luck, you will do great!
