I got only 77 in part 1. is it even worth applying to any dental school with that score? I can't re-do the exams. Any suggestion from anyone.😕

hi!
i also scored 81...
luking fwd to get some experience in us...and starting prep. for part 2...
i think it might open our options for schools which give weightage to part 2.hope moving in right direction!!!any suggestions????

please i would like to ak the same question....for how long you guys study and from wat materials u used? i mean why u got these score? was the test very difficult or u think u should have taken more time???????plzz do reply..i m also planning to take test in end of march.

you are planning to take the exam on march? the nbde part 1 sources are clear.I understand that u maybe confused about that because I am preparing for it as well and I got a lot of information through this website.as for difficulty, some students took this exam and they said it was difficult.but in my view,if you prepare well, there is nothing to worry about.we should open our mind.one suggestion is that don't rely on flash cards only.boost your understanding by reading comprehensive books.they are more organized, this what i got from this web site.but your post is little strange because u mentioned that u want to take it on march, how many times per month this test would be taken?i thought that u we have to schedule 2 or 3 months before the exam because it is only taken a few times per year.

for those who have got the score, how many questions you got correct when you did the released exams?

It looks like lots of ppl got score below 85 recently.

I got a score of 77, took the exam in Jan.. I was scoring an avg of around 80-83% in my past papers.. so i was really disappointed with the result..

Any word of advice as to how one should go about now? I was thinking of doing Research and applying?

Or you guys think giving part 2 is a better option?

My stats are
77/107/3.66

I have a years work experience and i have done Summer research in an american dental school.

every bit counts !! perseverence is gonna help..and dont ever lose hope. scores have gone down this year..so ever school knows it !! gud luck.

Candidates who have not passed may apply for reexamination at any time. However, notification of eligibility will not be sent to the Prometric Contact Center until at least 85 days have lapsed from the last attempt. When the notification of eligibility has been sent to Prometric, an e-mail (or letter via U.S. mail if no e-mail address on file) will be sent to you instructing you to visit www.prometric.com or to call the Prometric Contact Center at 800.688.5804 to schedule a testing appointment. A minimum of 90 days must separate a candidate’s reexaminations on the NBDE Part II.

taken from ADA site. so it mean i have to wait for atleast 3 months to register for date..right?

Can u give us more details about your exams. I guess the standard has gone up since 2011. How was the pattern?nothing from decks/kaplan/asda? what all books did u refer?
Thank you.

yes the exam is tough.. but asda papers , decks, and first aid remain the best way to build a solid foundation to get a good score.. obviously number 1 is how u studied in dental school... i did the asda papers twice and honestly this helped me out on my test so much, that i think someone would have to be crazy to half-ass them.. first aid helped me out more than decks, but that was just me.. Haam seems to swear by the decks and he got a few points higher than i did..

the exam was tough. i left the center feeling dejected. i felt after all of those hours studying, i should have known more questions.. there were just TOO many questions that i knew no matter what resource i read, i would not know the answer.. i ended up with an 89 and i hope that aiming high and rayman get even better news than i did.. best of luck!

THANK U sooo much Amreki & Aiming High for sharing your experience. Best of luck to you all for admissions 🙂 Please do not stress out on your scores, God willing, you all will get into school of your choice.

So...I gather that the tough questions were more conceptual based as in applied knowledge? OR were the tough questions on topics that are not covered by decks, first aid & asda???? Your comments would be appreciated 🙂

hey guys...

dont worry u guys must have done well....
i felt the same way, even i got hardly 30 repeat questions....rest all were new....i gave my exam on march 29.
i got an 87.
so its feelingg of confusion after the exam.
so relax and chill

for the decks: do we need to memorize everything on the backside of the card or just be able to answer the questions?

decks + asda papers + first aide = enough?

if not, add USMLE? I just feel like I don't even have enough time for the decks & old exams much less adding anything else on there....

thanks for any advice, just starting to study & have 7 weeks b4 exam.

Hi guys,I read dental decks once and before reviewing,I am going to go over ASDA papers.I have all of them but unfortunately I got a very low score specially in DA.my average score on asda papers are mic/patho:80 bio/physio:80 anatomy:70 DA:60 I try to write down all of my incorrect answers and go over them.I have a plan to review decks for 3 times, review my incorrect answers on ASDA,and try to solve some other tests such as rudman and mosby tests.had anyone been in same situation regarding getting low score in ASDA?

as I saw on this website for anatomy and Da. dental decks and ASDA in enough but for micro/patho and bio/physio I think its better to read usmle sources. one of my friends took exam last month in California and now she got depression!!!🙁 I completely lost my confidence. Many of my friends passed this exam years ago but the exam is tougher than those days

Thats an amazing score congratulations i took the exam on april 28 th and still dont have my score but i worked so hard and i finished the exam so confused because the level of dificulty many questions just impoosible to know. I wish i can ace it just like u did

Maybe call the programs & ask what the avg score was for those accepted, and remember, it's an avg so many ppl were accepted w/ below this #
