hi
thanx to all the members of SDN for their guidance and my special thanks to iomega who always supported me in tough times.
my only single advice to all buddies who are to take the exam is revision and revision.do not appear for exam until you are confident, put your best foot forward.
dont assume anything,go prepared for anything easy or hard.
thanx

one thing I want to share is that exam was very easy,i would say easier than 2004 pilot exam .testlet questions were straight forward.there were some say 10-15 repeat questions also but dont assume anything,go prepared for anything easy or hard.
thanx

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! 👍👍
Can you please tell us ur individual scores?!!

Congratulations! awesome score 🙂
r u in a regular 4-yr program or a foreign trained dentist?

Congrats! Can u pls tell me your sources for DA and Biochem-physio.How many months did u put in?thnks

Congrats!
I am also a Dentist from India. I am planning to appear for nbde part 1 in jan 2011. But I don't know much about this exam. So could you please share the info. Also since you have already given the exam will you be interested in selling the study materials you have. if yes then I would be interested in buying them.

Thanks,

Hey, I know that I was looking everywhere for people who had lower scores just to know what the passing raw scores were. I actually did better than I planned on doing at first, but here is what I got. Still don't know what the minimum scores really are, but you can try and figure them out more from these scores rather than just people who post comprehensive scores in the high 80s and 90s. These are good average scores.

Raw score/ National Mean

Anatomic science - 75/65.7
Biochem/Phys - 64/60.8 (this section was real hard on my exam)
Micro/Path - 70/65.4
Dental Anatomy - 85/74.3
Comprehensive - 84

good luck everyone

Hi ashi

I have one question regarding numerical questions?
Are we provided with an onscreen scientific calculator?
Because some of the pH based questions I have seen need the log function.
So I was wondering about the calculator.
Please let me know.
Thanks.

i never tried kaplan q bank but if you have time, you can do it,coz many of my friends say that it was helpful for them

Sorry to disappoint you but you cant retake the exam since you already passed it.Maybe you should start with part 2 and get some US dental clinic experience.Good luck!

thanks rose82.
i studied dental anatomy from standard text books,i mean tooth anatomy from wheeler's and histology from orban's and made my own notes, coz if u will read books again n again, thats very time consuming.i also read frolm dental decks and kaplan book.
for biochem and physiology,i read from decks, kaplan, text books.
for biochem and physio,i also read from USMLE kaplan books but i think there is no need to study those books coz exam was very simple but if u have time,u can go thru them coz these are v nice books, takes very less time and makes your concepts strong.
well,i tell u ,i am not among very brilliant students, for me -slow and steady wins the race.i took around 10months ,it was v hard to study with 2year kid.
it does not matter whether u took 4,6,10,12 months, only result matters.
take care
I do agree. Score matters.

COuld you share how to review pathology. what are other materials besides decks. Thank you

Hello!

I took the part 1 boards and its not as bad as it seems. I scored an 88 and only studied dental decks and old ASDA questions. dont stress.

Is it gonna be more tough for the foreign trained dentists to get into qualifying program with pass and fail result?????

could anyone tell me wats the maximum time it takes for the result ? mine hasnt arrived as yet. Gave my NBDE 1, 4 weeks back

I am wondering how the score is calculated. How can we estimate our score based on those released exams?

Does raw score mean the number of the correct questions?

For example, DA: 85, did it mean you got correct on 85 questions?

thanks in advance for your comments

@sailing
they have an average score scaled to every version of the test..some exams are tough..but some are easy..so the exam which is tougher will give u more points if u get something correct than easy ones.. and suppose u get 85 as a raw score doesnt mean tht u got 85 questions correct..some questions carry more marks and some carry no marks... so its a matter of luck..if u get those questions correct which carry more marks will fetch u a good score..i hope u r following wat i am trying to convey.
gud luck..

Hi,some people informed that the nbde part1 exam format may change next year.I don't know exactly.I am trying to take the exam this year because it's kind a waste of time if someone wait until 2012.I think you have enough time to prepare for this year.please read other suggestions as well.

Does anyone what the recent scores have been like,

I took my exam on feb 15 and got my score, its an 85.

I am not really feeling good about it.

is it true that the scores are coming in low or is it I just didn't do well.

the higher score the better... if u get a 90 and above u have an excellent shot... 85 is still a good decent score, but u have to apply to as many schools as u can.

i'm taking the exam in a couple of weeks.. do you mind posting your breakdown of your score and some feedback, like if you thought the test was hard/harder than previous ASDA papers ..etc etc?

well, the exam was not hard as such, I think it really depends on your preparation.

the thing I lacked most was confidence, and that really weighed in I think.

If you have studied, kaplan and decks and done asda properly, you are good. and can definitely get a good score. get your basics very well. believe in yourself.

I didn't do the first 50 questions properly at all, I was so nervous, most of them didn't even register. So yes, be confident and go for it.

dentessentials was a good reveiw book i liked.

Good LUCK!

thanks alot for your feed back billy... best of luck in your applications and your admission!

Hi everyone...just took my exam 2 days back and not at all happy.....i worked so hard but exam was really tough.....i tried to find their answers from books but could not.....i am really scared now.....got less than 50 percent questions from books.....i want to know from other guys who already gave their exam that how was their exam?plz help me........

hey aiming-high.. the exam was the same for me.. there were a solid 30-45 questions i had no clue of, with 100 or so that i had to chose between 2 choices.. i'm obviously estimating the number of questions, but i left the test center thinking i had done just enough to get around 300/400 right .. which is somewhere around 86... i ended up with a 89.. it's just the way the exam. .its so different from the past asda papers... knowing the subjects conceptually is the only way to score in this test, there are very few "direct" questions from the book.. more questions have u apply ur knowledge in new ways to find an answer.... good luck on your score and try not to take too much stress !
