I got Loyola today (snail mail)... they were mighty slow.

waterlily said:has anyone heard from Columbia regarding their file completion? It's been a while since I sent in everything, but I haven't received any email or anything regarding my application status.

Bluntman said:Yea UCLA screens for MD secondaries...(although maybe not for mstp, judging from the promptness and wording of my mstp secondary invite from them)
JayQuah said:is the MSTP secondary the same as the MD? any word on if they screen or not? I just checked my status/accessed secondary online. Seems like the same questions everyone is being asked.
Bluntman said:I haven't seen a regular MD UCLA one, but you're right it does sound the same from what people have been posting. The screening thing tho is kind of an interesting point to me...I wasn't verified until 7/28, but I already had a (MSTP) secondary invite from LA on 8/8, which seems like a *really* short time to get any screening done...plus it seems that some MD applicants who were verified way back in June didn't get their invites till after this. Guess it begs the question if someone could potentially apply mstp, get rejected, and then get in regular md even tho they would have missed the original md cutoff if they applied straight md? hmm....

😱 And I though it was bad applying to 20! I don't think you need to list "writing secondary essays" as an extracurricular activity, it could pretty much define you as a person at this point!angietron3000 said:Can I list "writing secondary essays" as an extracurricular activity? Ugh! I'm getting so sick of this! At least I've reached my halfway point: 20 submitted, 19 or so to go!
tweetledee said:Anyone else get a reminder from Stanford to submit their secondary? I did, and it hasn't even been 2 weeks 😱 This made me kind of nervous. I hope they don't think I'm not interested in their school! maybe I'm just bein paranoid.... 😳
Bluntman said:I think there's a thread on here somewhere about this...seems like they just sent that email out to everyone...so don't worry. 🙂
ShyRem said:Colorado is in! But did you notice on the application form it says the fee is $80, but in the instructions the fee is $100?
Thundrstorm said:Okay, I thought I was done submitting my secondaries for this week, but then I looked at my budget again, and it looks like I'm canceling my trip to Ikea for a new desk, and my trip to Old Navy for new pants, and instead I'll be submitting Mt. Sinai and Emory. *sigh* I wish I had more $$.
humuhumu said:Just got Vermont's secondary. E-mail link to an online application site, which unfortunately doesn't recognize my AMCAS ID. Time to make a phone call....
JTHURMA said:Got Utah today....
6:20 PM
Its as long as rumored and probably more than I want to do.
indo said:Hey! Colorado! woohoo.
vcu says its a no go. Its cool...i'm pretty much out of money.

SOUNDMAN said:I read on their website the first year's tuition was 72K 😱 😱.
CAN YOU FREAKING BELIEVE THAT.
SpeedRacer said:um yeah that's why i didn't put them on amcas. it's instate tuition after 1st year, but still...wtf.
That is why i didn't apply to colorado, i knew their tuition is THE HIGHEST of all med schools.SOUNDMAN said:Got Colorado as well today. Anyone know if they screen or not? And secondly how many out-of-staters are applying there. I read on their website the first year's tuition was 72K 😱 😱.
CAN YOU FREAKING BELIEVE THAT. That has to be more than anywhere else in the nation. Since my parents live there I could possibly finagle instate tuition, but OMG.
indo said:If you come to oregon you have to pay out of state tuition for the full time you're here. This applies to all the undergrad schools too. I believe each state has its own residency laws.
osselot said:anybody else NOT get their colorado secondary today? 😱
humuhumu said:I got it too -- at precisely the same time and date.
The 4500 character personal statement is a great way to weed out applicants who don't really really want to go there....
JTHURMA said:Its not that I don't want to go there.
Ther personal statement is no problem. I've got a closet-full of those.
The time limit along with the numerous letters of recommendation, and a requirement for a class in diversity. I'm a graduate student, and after looking at my undergraduate transcript, I don't have a single class that falls under that category.
I'll probably apply and hope I can convince them that a certain class I took can qualify for that course.

humuhumu said:I don't have any "diversity courses" in my record either and I've been out of school for awhile. It's not a problem -- you just have to take that class sometime before matriculating.
MoosePilot said:What is a class in diversity? 😕
JTHURMA said:I was going to quote them from their site, but for some reason I am getting an error message when I try to log in.
Anyway.. I remember something liek a course in Ethnic politics, gender studies, women studies... something along those lines...
MoosePilot said:Thanks, I was just curious. Requirements like that always make my ears perk up. I had a class on Native American tribes of North America. I wonder if that would count.
