Hey guys my dream school is UoP; any advice from those who have gained the almighty acceptance letter?? What made your app stand out? and if you got a rejection and followed up for reasons, would you mind sharing what types of things they may have shared with you? thanks everyone

All advice and sharing of experiences are great; minus the obvious...keep gpa and dat high...

One adcom told me that they like to see students who've done well under heavy courseloads due their accelerated 3 year program.

I'm on the waitlist (hopefully accepted in April) so someone who has actually been accepted may be of more use.

The one thing I saw during my interview day what that you need to be a really well rounded applicant.

My other interviewees and the current students all probably had really high GPA/DAT scores but they had more dimensions to their application, whether it was dental related ECs, work, or something else. Make sure that your application is full because they look through it in detail before they call you for an interview (other schools I interviewed at only looked at my GPA/DAT and read the rest of my application after they called me to interview).

good luck!

Good stuff! Thanks guys, and best of luck getting off that waitlist!

Hey there. As someone who got accepted to UoP, I would just say that I think what helped my application a lot was that I showed a very concentrated effort to bring up my GPA -- which, turns out to be manifested by 3 semesters of straight A's. I also worked hard to get a high DAT score to try and show the committee that I am a strong academic candidate despite my so-so GPA from the first few years of undergrad. I also think that a demonstrated commitment to community service is also a good component to highlight in your application. Feel free to PM me with any other questions you might have! Good luck!!

I got accepted into UOP and chose not to go. I would say solid DAT scores, at least 20's across the board, maybe a 19 but have an AA21 +. I had a lot and a lot of extracurricular activities, which I think was a plus for them since I was able to keep up my GPA. Shows I can handle their accelerated curriculum no problem. Also, if you are a "legacy," they usually hook it up.

They receive a ton of applications, so make sure to stand out. Your academic load and DAT should reflect excellent scores.

UOP is big on family in dentistry and that went to UOP. Also high DAT like previously said and a high GPA your last couple years. Also go to their dental simulation course if you can, they pretty much tell you everything there, plus you get some good hands on experience.

Its expensive though, hence why I am going to my state school. But the school moves in 2 years which could be cool, all new crap!

GOOD LUCK! 👍👍👍👍
