Government Shut Down--Implications for Pain?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you rescheduling your PPO telehealth visits to in-office also? I can't imagine the private payors allowing for telehealth if Medicare is no longer providing it.

  • Telehealth services can be provided by all eligible Medicare providers through September 30, 2025.

No extension was agreed upon because of the government shut down. Today is 10/1/25.

I got an email saying I should have Medicare patients sign an Abn for telehealth

Chasing down senior citizens and disabled people for cash payment is a pain in the rear so I’m just not going to do telemedicine until compensation is guaranteed

yes essential services such as Medicare should still be open.

however, as noted, the continuation of telehealth was dependent on parts of the government that have been shut down. so technically, telehealth may not get covered.

unless you are an employee of a HOPD who is a part of a Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organization....
