Hey guys, so I just got back my MCAT scores and I must have really messed up. I was thinking of retaking them September 10th, but would that be too late to apply for this cycle? If not, should I apply now with a date pending, or wait until I get my scores back?

In efforts not to retake them/ apply this cycle, I used my LizzyM score to crate a list of schools that are within my range, but Ive never heard of someone getting in with an mcat under 500. If you could please just look at my list and let me know what you think and if there are any I should add. Thanks a lot!

P.S I am a PA resident, have a lot of TA hours, Cadaver hours, RA, President of the premed club at my school, Won some scholarships, and started a fishing club.

MD
Meharry medical college school of medicine , TN
Morehouse school of medicine, GA
University of Washington school of medicine, WA
Florida State University college of medicine, FL

DO
PCOM, PA
LECOM, PA

I wouldn't apply to UW or FSU if you're OOS
I don't know about the others or your chances but best of luck!

Aren't Meharry and Morehouse historically black schools? So probably best to remove those unless you want to donate your app money.

What were your practice scores?

Since you are white, you have absolutely no chance at MD unless you retake the MCAT and score much higher. You may have a chance at some DO schools, depending on your GPA, which you have not provided.
I put the GPA in title, 3.9 and is it too late to retake the MCATs in September for the 17' cycle?

For MD schools, retaking the MCAT in September would probably be too late unless you scored so high that you become a very attractive applicant. Something like 515+.

You're not going to get any MD love with that MCAT score considering how there are many people with your GPA and 508+ MCATs.
You will likely need to apply next cycle... take your time and retake the MCAT. Or you could apply DO this cycle.

I wasn't too familiar with the schools just that they were close to my LizzyM score, but you don't think i'd have a chance there as a white applicant? And I've been averaging 503 on kaplans, but I guess I put too much faith in it, but this time I am going to try Princeton review test and AAMC test as well.

The primary reason why those schools have low LizzyM scores is because they are geared towards taking URM, who tend to have lower GPA and MCAT scores. If you're white why would they take you over a URM with similar scores?

Also do you have clinical experience/volunteering? You didn't really list any in your OP. That alone would give you good reason to take a gap year/take 3-4 months to study and retake the MCAT.

The 3.9 GPAs suggest you could do considerably better than 45th percentile. Did you study for it properly? I'd be looking to retake unless you feel you were fully prepared and unlikely to improve much.

You could probably get into a DO right now.

If you truly think that you can raise your MCAT, then withdraw your apps and apply after you retake.

The next time you apply, you should really think about the school you apply to. Schools want to see that you at least have some knowledge of their program rather than applying willy-nilly. With more research, you woild have also realized that your MCAT is ~24 on the old scale and that the median MCAT for MD schools is 32.

Good luck!

FSU accepts like, 1 percent OOS OP, and they almost always have some sort of strong, legitimate tie to Florida. And, no offense, I'm guessing they had MCATs higher than 498. Also, I echo other posts in saying that Morehouse and Meharry aren't worth the app money and time since you aren't black. And I've heard the same for UW and schools in that area too. Here is an honest question: Does it matter to you whether you go DO or MD? Because if not, then I don't THINK (don't quote me on this, @Goro and @gyngyn might be better to ask) you might be ok for the lower tier DO schools, the newer ones, such as Acom (when they opened, they had the MCAT of 23 on the old scale as their median,) and others. If you do truly care whether or not you go MD, you should retake the MCAT after rigorous studying and planning, and waiting an application cycle to go by (maybe two, idk.) Even if you wanted your best shot at DO schools, because now they are becoming more competitive, I would still recommend retaking the MCAT. Just my 2 cents.
