When filling out your application, does anyone know if + and -'s are factored into the gpa? Also, are repeat classes counted as 2 different individual courses or just the better of the two?

I would use the overall GPA your undergrad transcript shows when applying, and unfortunately mine does do + and - (which sucks since 1/2 of my grades are A-). To calculate your major GPA use http://www.iastate.edu/~registrar/gpa-calc/gpaCalculator.html

I've heard most med schools will average the grades if you retake a class, so if you get a C then retake for an A they count it as a B. Thats why I didn't bother retaking the C+ I got in calculus.

Overall it's not a big deal, the motto is no longer 4.0 or you're f'ed.

Thanks so much for your help Catayst!

they sure are calculated. A plus is worth .3 pts and a minus is worth -.3pts. for example, A grade of a "B" is worth 3 pts. But if you have a B+ then its equivalent to 3.3 and if you have a B-, its equivalent to 2.7

yea, i actually called the schools and they told me that all of the repeated courses are averaged....so i guess that kinda sucks.
