I'm a little bit confused about something. On the AMCAS application there are separate places to input undergrad and graduate course grades. Are these grades average together to produce a "total" GPA or are they always looked at individually. I guess what I'm wondering about is that you see a lot of statistics for "average GPA" for a particluar Med school, do you think these stats take into account all courses (GRAD and Undergrad), just science courses?

Also, do "science courses" include advanced coursework or just the premed- required ones?

Thanks. 🙂

The AMCAS GPA is calculated with only ugrad classes. Separate GPA's are calculated for science, non-science, and total coursework. All courses in the undegrad/post-bacc years are taken into account, both upper-level and pre-reqs. Grad GPA is calculated separately. 🙂

Does anyone know if an MS gpa (in computer science) will be factored in at all for admissions decisions? My undergrad GPA is great, but the MS in CS is almost half a grade point less...

I've been told they care less about MS classes...but half a point less than a great GPA is still good!

Thanks a lot Stinky...
