so I have 34.25 total credit from undergrad. One class equaled 1 credit and language classes were 1.5 credit. When filling in the "raise your gpa" website, what do I put in as my total credit hours?
Also, do you guys think I can submit my massage school transcript? It is COMPTA accredited College and I have 828.00 class hours with 3.86 GPA.
Another thing. When med schools look at your grade, are they looking at your cumulative GPA up until you matriculate or right up to when they actually receive the application?
To figure out how your credits translate to standard credits, you first must determine your former school's policy to set the credit points. Hopefully, it is based on hours of lecture per week, or something similar. Based on this, you should be able to assign standard credit hours. Check out both the AMCAS and AACOMAS websites to figure this out more. Was the language class a longer lecture or did it have additional labs or smaller groups meetings every week? That might explain the difference. Sounds like the 1 might translate to a standard "3" and 1.5 to a "4", but that is just a wild guess.
That's an interesting question about massage therapy. COMPTA accredited schools qualify for federal student loans, so the US gov't recognizes them as a high education. FWIW, I suspect you are best to include it and error on the side of letting the application services tell you 'No'. Of course, you could always call them up and ask
🙂
For you application, you will submit the most current grade information. Schools you are invited to interview with or are accepted to have different policies, but most will ask you to keep them appraised of you grades. Most will have you submit an official transcript directly to them prior to matriculation, but that is really putting the horse before the cart: right now focus on doing the best you possibly can.
Yes, you want to figure out how competitive you are right now, but really, this does not affect you forward-going strategy: attaining the highest grades possible.
