Really wish i did better my first 2 years , but i pushed it at the end with an overall GPA of 3.5 for my rest of my undergrade years. Pretty sure my statement and letters would be decent. Have good experience from the volunteering, and get along with PTs well. I plan to take a few science courses over, while waiting for admission. Hoping to get in at least one, seeing alot of competition :xf: But good luck to all!! And if anything.. I'll take revise GRE and apply again next cycle. Gonna keep going at it... All out for my DREAMS!! 😀

I thought group interviews would be intimidating as well! But they do ask specific questions (well, I dont know about Maryland), that really are personal. Nothing like "What do you think of the Healthcare situation today" but like "What do you do when you get stressed!?"

Does anyone know how many will be interviewed at UNE?

Hi! I also have an interview at UNE in december. Is yours perhaps Dec 2? From what I've read, they interview about 20-30 people per day and let you know about a week or two after the interview whether you got it. Based on how many people that accept, that's kind of how they decide how many positions are left for the interviews in Jan and later. I'm nervous but really hoping to get in here! What kinds of things are you doing to prepare for the interview?

Yup, my interview is on Decemeber 2nd. I've done some mock interviews with a guidance counselor. I hear that there isn't a whole lot to worry about with UNE's interview. I will still be prepared to answer questions about current events in the field. I am kinda wondering what the writing sample entails. Will it be an individual timed thing, or what?
I am pretty excited to see if I am in.

Wow, I can't believe you were denied with your stats. This discourages me 🙁 What two schools did you apply to your first go round?

I was waitlisted at Milwaukee & rejected at Madison. I forgot to mention that my GRE score at the time was only a 1020 with a writing score of 4. I applied right after re-taking a few prerequsite courses, and I had very little observational/volunteer experiene in the field. I've worked very hard over the past year to build up volunteer/work experience in multiple PT settings. I can't begin to tell you how much I've learned in the past 9 months working in an OP clinic and hospital. I am a MUCH more rounded applicant this year.

Don't be discouraged, it shows how important it is to have a strong background working/volunteering in the field.

If you don't mind sharing how did u do on the new GRE?

anyone know on PTCAS, is the Prereq GPA one they look at the TOTAL at the end of all the specific class GPAS, or is it the self-reported GPA. Mine are very different and I don't know why!

University: The University of Akron
Major: Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy)
Overall GPA: 3.7
Pre-Req GPA: 3.5-3.7-ish depending on the school
GRE: 570V, 610Q, 4.5AW

The GPA would be higher, but my first semester freshman year was rocky. So, since I've had nearly a 4.0 every semester since then, I am hoping that will be taken into consideration when looking at my transcript.

Extra-Curric: Worked since Fresh. year at University Library as a student assistant (20-30 hrs/ week); Rebuilding Together Alternative Spring Break 2 years; Multicultural Honors Society-Events Chair; K-8 Dance Instructor (started this year); compete in triathlons and running races; Hearts for Humanity; STEM scholar; member of Honors College

Volunteer: 60 Inpatient; 70+ hours at outpatient clinics (still volunteering currently)

Applied: Ohio State, Ohio University, University of Cincinnati, Youngstown State, Cleveland State, Gannon University, Slippery Rock University, U Pitt, I'm thinking about applying to Columbia and maybe Northwestern (as a real long shot possibility)

PTCAS app. just received by all the schools who use PTCAS, so now it's just about waiting!😕

Just heard from Pitt, on their wait list.

anyone know on PTCAS, is the Prereq GPA one they look at the TOTAL at the end of all the specific class GPAS, or is it the self-reported GPA. Mine are very different and I don't know why!

PTCAS uses a specific grade point scale per their instructions. Total is every class you ever took. yes it is posted in the list of all the specific gpas and should match the overall gpa on the top section page. both are labled TOTAL. Once they post the GPA that means they verified your self-reporting against your transcripts. Then they also do about 10 specific gpas.(science, psych, math, etc) p 22 in http://www.ptcas.org/PTCASInstructions_2011_12.pdf
Basically the difference might be that PTCAS has a scale for your + and - grades. My community colleges did not account for this difference, and my university gave more that 4.0 for A+ but PTCAS does not. Are you looking at the status list on your log in page? schools will look at both your PTCAS prereq GPA, your total GPA and then will look through your course list to see what classes are specific to their program that may be different from the PTCAS core.Hope this helps.Makes more sense once you look at the info.

Thank you very much! Mayo didn't tell me why I was rejected, but the letter made me lose what little confidence I had lol. Although, I should say that they reviewed my application before they received my revised GRE scores. So maybe that's the reason.

My first choice is EWU!!! I'm an undergrad there now, and unfortunately they don't give any preference, or participate in interviews!

Where are you applying? I hope your application process is going better than mine thus far lol.

I just looked at the stats on the EWU website for the class that entered in 2010, and your GPAs kill their averages, so I would say you have a really good shot there! 🙂

Y'all in WA are so lucky to have such good PT programs with reasonable in-state tuition rates. I was thinking of applying to UW earlier, but their out-of-state tuition is mucho $$$.

I applied to Mayo, NAU, and Cal State Northridge (CSUN). I'm interviewing at Mayo next Thurs. Here's hoping that we both get interviews at NAU in a couple of months! :xf:

Good luck! :luck:

I applied to Mayo, NAU, and Cal State Northridge (CSUN). I'm interviewing at Mayo next Thurs. Here's hoping that we both get interviews at NAU in a couple of months! :xf:

Good luck! :luck:

You won't find this anywhere on the UW website, but I talked to them, and for graduate students, after the first year you are granted in state tuition (as long as you follow the steps to gain residency). There is a graduate student fee waiver process to go through, but they said none of their grad students pay out of state tuition their 2nd and 3rd years!

Midwestern

I'm still anxiously waiting to hear from Mayo and a few local schools (for the cost primarily) but as of right now I'm REALLY excited and relieved! 🙂

Congrats on your acceptance to Midwestern! It must feel awesome to have one in the bag! 🙂

How did the Mayo visit and interview go? Did they say when you'll hear back?

Thanks so much for the tip, but now I'm confused... I emailed the contact person at UW over the summer and she told me it's "very difficult to change residence in the State of Washington" and "if you start our program as a non-resident, the chances are very good you will remain a non-resident for all 3 program years. There is no graduate tuition waiver for students in the UW DPT program."

Do you think she just didn't want me to count on eventually getting cheaper tuition? If you have an alternate source of info that you might not want to post on the board, please PM me.

PS
Your 6 on AW is killer! Go you! And best of luck in all the schools you applied to! 🙂
