ashy87pt -- have you picked a school yet? I currently go to MU for my pre-reqs and am thinking about applying there and GWU next cycle. What do you think of the programs?

Ive decided to go to Eastern Washington U. It has a great reputation, new facilities, and is only 11 grand a year. If a quality, cheaper program is not an option for you then I would definitely recommend applying to Marymount. I loved it there and would definitely consider going there if it wasnt for the money difference. I really liked the faculty and the teaching style they use. They do a learning based group technique which I really liked but its definitely something you would want to see if you liked (since its a huge part of the curriculum) The only down side to the program is that the facilities are small and nothing special. I liked the program so much I didnt even care about the facilities though. They use the anatomy lab at GWU which is also something to consider. I personally wouldnt bother with GWU. The faculty seemed cold and impersonal and I really dont think its worth the outrageous tution. Others I have spoken with agree. Good luck!

I got accepted to USC, but haven't been there to tour it yet. Has anyone else visited the campus and want to share their experience?

Hey, I was just looking through this thread and found this. Were you worried about getting in with your major? I just graduated in December from Rosen with Event Management and have 3-5 more prereqs to take (depending on which schools want what classes). I'm applying this summer and have been feeling not so confident because of my degree. Have you decided where you're attending?

I have a degree in business. Schools don't care what your major was as long as you fulfill the prereqs. Don't worry!

This is an update to my post from last fall. I remember how helpful this was when I began applying. I was really worried because my undergrad was in Hospitality Management, but I honestly don't think it mattered at all in the end and it even gave me great leverage in the interviews for what made me different/what could I bring to the table. Don't be discouraged if you have an "unusual" pre-PT major. Work hard and be yourself, and you'll get an offer to the place where you will fit best 🙂

Congrats on all your acceptances! You got into really good schools; you must've impressed them a lot! I just thought it was really random/cool that someone else had the same odd degree from the same school and decided to change career paths completely. What year did you graduate? We have really similar stats, which keeps my hopes up 🙂

Congrats dlizzy! That's so exciting! I'm waitlisted at two schools so I'm in a similar situation as you were. It must feel so good to finally hear 🙂 Are you for sure going to Gannon?

Thanks aggie! I'm not sure yet... I'm going to send the deposit to Gannon to secure my spot, but if I get into one of the 3 schools I was waitlisted at, I'll probably go to that one instead because all 3 are significantly cheaper than Gannon.

Have you only heard from the 2 schools you were waitlisted at? If so, hang in there, it will happen for you. I know some PTs who got accepted to schools at which they first were waitlisted. No worries!

Aww thanks. Yeah, the two I'm waitlisted at are Angelo State and Shenandoah. Still waiting to hear from one more I interviewed at last week, and I liked that one the best, but I'm hoping something works out! I'm surprised that Gannon is more expensive than the other three, Shenandoah was probably the most expensive school I applied to. Congrats again, time to celebrate!

Rejections: Ohio State

Interviews: Chatham

Waitlisted: Chatham

I'm still waiting to hear from Cleveland State. It says on PTCAS that they are going to have their decisions by May 1. I should hear more on Chatham's alternate list next month.

🙁
OSU flat rejected you and didn't waitlist? Somewhat surprised. There will be waitlist movement soon likely.

Cleveland state does have a different time-frame they work over, don't lose hope. I'm pretty sure you'll get in. Perhaps could use a brief (>20) hr inpatient experience if you do have to re-apply (doubt). GPA is pretty good.

So, I am having a problem deciding between schools (like every one else in the world) and was wondering if anyone could offer some insight. When I went to Temple to interview I loved loved loved loved the school, students, faculty, just about everything. I am deciding between Temple and Widener. Temple is ~$15K more per year for tuition than Widener, but it is also in a city and I am not a huge fan of cities. I have heard great things about Widener's program (as well as Temple's), and really like Widener's Campus and location (meaning that its not in a city). I really am not sure how to make this decision, I've weighed all the pros and cons and neither school really sticks out. Has anyone else had to make a similar decision, or have any insight to offer? Thanks guys!
