Hi Kuhdaytee,

I'm a current PT student at UMES who happened to stumble upon your post. Just want to extend my congratulation to you on getting accepted! and welcome to the UMES family!! :]

Congrats to everyone who has posted up acceptances in the last couple of weeks. I'm glad to see so many people commenting on how much this forum/thread has helped them with the application process. Go SDN pre-PT!

And best of luck for everyone who is still waiting on an acceptance. My heart seriously goes out to you.

University: UC Santa Barbara
Major: Sociology
Overall: 3.46
Pre-Req: 3.75 (PTCAS) or 3.96 (Chapman replaces lower grade with higher grade if the class is a retake)
GRE: 151 V, 151 Q, 4.5 AW
Hours: 64 (Outpatient Orthopedic) 45 (Outpatient Pediatric)

Applied: Chapman Fall 2015 and Spring 2016

Rejections: None
Acceptances: None

I haven't heard a word back from Chapman besides them informing me they received my Academic Update. I have a bad feeling since it got there early February they haven't even looked at my application yet. I'm hoping if I don't get into the Fall, my scores are good enough to get into the Spring class. Admissions already informed me that pre-req GPA and GRE score are all that is really looked at, so hopefully my GRE score doesn't hurt my chances.

Just out of curiosity, were you originally wait listed at Lynchburg?

Just out of curiosity, were you originally wait listed at Lynchburg?

Yes, I was originally waitlisted at Lynchburg. Then I received an e-mail on Feb 16 saying that I was in the top 3 on their waitlist, so I should be prepared to make a decision because my chances of being offered a spot were fairly high. Then I was offered a spot yesterday!

this is still crackin me up...

congrats on your acceptances by the way 🙂

Thanks! Yes it's weird ... one of the therapists I shadowed a lot recorded the hours that way so I just went with it!

I understand your feelings right now. But don't lose hope. I say again, don't lose hope under what circumstances. I applied 10 schools and hear 9 rejections before finally get accepted into the last school. Some people also take 1-2 years to be accepted. At least you know you are pursuing what you like and dream of. I hope good news is coming to you soon.

CONGRATS! I received an email that I was on the wait list but not entirely sure where.
Thank you! And definitely keep an eye out - I'm guessing they'll notify the top three on the waitlist each time someone rejects an offer. They're also taking more students in this cohort than in years past!

For those who have interviewed at NYU, has anyone heard anything back?

Thanks, that's super kind of you! 🙂 I recently joined the Facebook group so I'm getting more excited about attending.

How do you like it so far? I haven't talked much to any current students, other than the ones that I met on the tour.

I personally enjoy the program! The class size is small so you'll get to know other students and faculty members pretty well. You will basically take classes with the same 30 or so students for your 3-years stay; so you'd share a lot of joy, stress, and tears together (haha). For my year, we all get along quite well.

As with any programs, you'd find good and "hard-to-follow" professors. For the most part, the professors here are very knowledgeable and approachable, and they do care for your education. For example, the anatomy professor here is one of the best teachers I've had (I won't spill the name on a public forum but I'm sure you'll find out soon 😛). The "other small part" comprises of one or two newly hired faculty members who are still adjusting their teaching styles, which some students have difficulty with. These professors just have a hard time conferring their wealth of knowledge onto the student body, but they're trying. Overall, You'll be fine as long as you work hard. Personally, I haven't met any student here that hates the program, so you're in good hands :]

You'll be assigned a mentor (a 2nd year student) prior to matriculation to help you with any questions/concerns. But in the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions that you might have! I apologize in advance if my responses are late due to other matters, but I'll try to response timely.

There are a lot of variables in being wait listed.( # of students in the upcoming class, the prestige of the school, when the class begins, what number you were originally at the very start of the waitlist, etc.)

I was wait listed #35 when they released the first waitlist for Shenandoah. I was on there for about a month before I was finally removed. I highly recommend you email the coordinator and ask how far they usually go up into the waitlist.

Try emailing pacificnevery two weeks regarding your position. It will show how much you really want to be admitted.

I you dont get in this year, keep the fire that you have. You literally can't find motivation like that anywhere else.

In my personal opinion, I would put money down that you will be accepted this cycle.

Praying for ya.

UPDATE: Couple more rejections 🙁

University: Cuny
Major: Biology
Overall GPA: 3.10
Pre-Req GPA: 3.15
GRE: 157 (Verbal) 158 (Quant) 3.5 (Analytical)

Extra-Curric: President of our youth group. Ran a business for the last 6 years to pay for PT school. 2 years as an assistant for a CPA.

Volunteer: 101 hours inpatient

Waiting on: Duquesne, Husson, LIU, Touro (NY), University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, U of Scranton, Brenau, Misericordia, Wingate, Franklin Pierce.

Acceptances: None

Rejections: Dominican College Of Blauvelt, Thomas Jefferson U, Temple, Touro (Nevada), Arkansas State, Clarkson, NY Medical, Lynchburg.

Interviews: None

At this point I feel like my chances of getting in are pretty bleak. Touro (NY) is the last college I feel I have a shot at. Otherwise I'm planning to retake 2 pre-req classes in the summer, work in a couple more PT settings, and apply much earlier. I know I'll get there eventually 🙂

@boopy @jy88 @Ibby33 ... So I couldn't stay in the shadows any longer after seeing this. Looks like January 17th was a good day. In fact, @jy88 , I believe we sat next to each other - the whole "VCU, huh? what a small world!" bit might ring a bell. So congratulations folks!! I'm certainly looking forward to the next three years. And of course, please loop me in on any local pre-fall rendezvous! Cheers! -K.

Yes, yes! Are you taking A&P II at Hunter now? I am.

Thank you so much for the motivations, suggestions, and most of all, the confidence you have within me. It's been rocky this app cycle and an emotional roller coaster. I'm so glad to have such a supportive group of SDN'ers this year, ALL of you have been so helpful and supportive that I cannot express the gratitude I have for this forum. Although I haven't been accepted yet, I'll continue to work hard even if it means going for a 3rd cycle. *sighs*
However, a new task is at hand at the moment that will keep my mind off this whole waitlist ordeal. I'm going to be FIGHTING in a few months prior to starting PT school (if I get in). I'm nervous as always, but it's a fear that I will turn into motivation for me. And I feel this will help keep my mind off this app cycle and keep me in shape. Wish me luck!

@knj27 When do we change out status from "Pre-Physical Therapy" to "Physical Therapy Student?!" This is so exciting. Soon, we will not have to qualify all our excellent advice with "I am not yet a PT student, but..." :highfive:

This is my 200th post! Just a baby compared to you.

Not too upset/surprised by this as their program only accepts 15% non-Springfield undergrads., and 50% out of state. Email was very encouraging though; said I met all requirements/criteria but was not given acceptance "because their class had already been filled".

I cannot believe the amount of waitlist offers I am receiving this cycle.... it's crazy!!! I still have Chapman and WestCoast University to hear from. From the look of things, I feel that I will be waitlisted there as well. I just NEED ONE... just ONE ACCEPTANCE. That is all I'm asking for.... LOL!

You can change your username if you pay to become an SDN donor. Your previous posts will change to the new name as well, IIRC, but posts in which you have been quoted retain your old name.

@knj27 When do we change out status from "Pre-Physical Therapy" to "Physical Therapy Student?!" This is so exciting. Soon, we will not have to qualify all our excellent advice with "I am not yet a PT student, but..." :highfive:

Hmmm...I was gonna wait til school actually started but I suppose you could jump the gun...the pre-meds have a Medical Student (accepted) status they can change to....although as far as I can tell in the Allo and Osteo forums that status seems to give you less cred if anything...

I am also admittedly giddy with excitement. :horns:

This is my 200th post! Just a baby compared to you.

That's because you aren't a dirty post ***** like me.

At least you still have a great shot. I've got nothing but rejections. Not looking for pity here, just saying that I feel in my heart you're getting in 🙂
