Stockton (mid-February)

My OTCAS was verified in early November and the academic update was just verified as well.
When did you hear back from Stockton on interview?

I am absolutely pulling my hair out during this process (haha). I have read these forums for several months but am just now finally deciding to post. I'd love to hear from others applying to the same programs and any feedback about whether or not my experience seems sufficient. My GRE is rather mediocre and my OT hours aren't very high but I am hoping other strengths will hold some weight. I am feeling rather panicked in not hearing from anyone yet, even if it is still early! Good luck to everyone!

Were you actually wait listed for Nova or just on hold?

A hold candidate, but I didn't know if that was the same thing kinda. Nova does theirs so much different than the rest of the schools!

Okay that's what I thought!! I'm pretty sure as a hold candidate we don't really have a yes or no decision letter yet! So we could still be told no as I take it :/

If anyone applied to OSU, you can check online (logging in through BuckeyeLink) and application status have been updated- well at least mine has.

USciences- My application was verified 1/12/15 :nailbiting: too.. I wonder when we will hear back.
I'm also applying to Seton Hall,Columbia, NYU and sage.

How did they contact you (e-mail, letter, phone)? Did you hear back before or after your academic update was verified?
They did through email and it was after my academic update was verified!

Thanks! I'm getting a little worried because I sent my transcripts to OTCAS over a week and a half ago and it still isn't even saying they've received them. Was there some sort of deadline for the academic update for Stockton? My school wouldn't send transcripts until the semester started again and my professors took FOREVER to get grades in. 🙁

I entered mine in on December 15th and they were updated towards the end of December I think. I am not sure if Stockton has a deadline for it though. My OTCAS took forever to update the first time around though... so I feel your pain!

I just hope they aren't lost somewhere, I can't say I'm a fan of this process. I wish it was more standardized between different schools. The waiting is killing me. Haha

hey, when did you apply to U of T ?

I'm the same way, it took about a week/week and a half for my transcripts to get to OTCAS from my school (1/13) and when I called OTCAS yesterday they said they are recalculating gpa's from transcripts they received on 1/8. So its looking like once they get transcripts it takes 2-3 weeks for gpa's to be recalculated. I would contact your schools to see if that is an issue, a lot of schools know that the OTCAS process takes awhile though.

hey, when did you apply to U of T ?
I think I finished the application in November. I know that was really early, but I wanted to finish all of my applications around the same time, and my others were due much sooner.

ADVICE FOR FUTURE APPLICANTS:
I don't feel like I have the best stats on here and when I was applying this really stressed me out. I think as long as your stats aren't horrible you have a chance and the only determining factor is your personal statement and your additional work and volunteer stuff. Pour your heart into your personal statement, don't say you just want to help people, stand out and be unique with personal stories. Try not to listen when people say that so and so applied to OT school and didn't get in.

Also, give your recommendations a deadline so you can submit early and then send them a really nice thank you note!

Very excited to finally post my stats on here. I've been lurking around here for a long time and I felt that I would never receive an acceptance because of my EXTREMELY low verbal GPA. Not only that, but because I felt that I would not stand out in my interview, due to being a quiet person.

I think one of the reasons I received an acceptance is because I speak Spanish and every place I volunteered in, there were no Spanish speaking OTs. So anyone that speaks Spanish and looking to go for OT, definitely do mention it!!

Overall, anyone looking to go to OT school, do the best you can to make sure your application stand out. Being a quiet person, I made sure to take on many opportunities to help me get out of my comfort zone such as holding a leadership position, being a UTA, and joining a pre-health honor society, where it mainly consisted of future doctors.

Good luck to any of those still waiting! 🙂

Congrats! @OTGonzagaa on your acceptance to Touro. I think your stats look great despite your verbal score.. Do you plan on accepting Touro's offer? How early did you apply to OTCAS? I have an interview with Touro and was wondering if you can shed some light on the program and interview. Also, how long did it take for them to contact you about your acceptance. Thanks in advance!

When did you get an invitation to interview at Towson? Do they interview current Towson students first?

@emmig They did not interview me. They sent me an email that they were unable to accept my application because my GPA was not high enough so they wouldn't consider to review it. I understand that they need to reject people, however I think they should not judge a person based upon their GPA especially since I attended there for my undergrad. I do not believe they would interview current Towson students first though!

Alright guys I'm in my last semester of college hoping of can raise my GPA and I plan to apply this year to hopefully get accepted for 2016. Can someone please tell me what my chances are with the stats I have currently? I still plan to volunteer more for the rest of the year, work as much as I can, and take the GRE in July.

JC: Fresno City College
University: CSU Monterey Bay
Major: kinesiology
AA in Social Sciences
Overall GPA: 3.2
CSU Monterey Bay: 3.3
GRE: not yet

Volunteer: so far have about 45 hours at a private pediatrics clinic with an OT
32 hours at a orthopedic pre-school with OT on duty only a few times (wasn't official)

Work: Respite worker for almost 1 1/2 years. Have experience with 3 children that have autism and one child who has epilepsy.

I plan to apply to an ABA agency in July so I'll get more experience in the schools.

Plan to apply to: CSUDH (go big or go home), Loma Linda, USC, Winston-Salem state, MUSC, Ohio State, and Arizona School of Health Sciences.
Please tell me my chances for these schools.
I know my GPA is low but I'm hoping I can score high enough on the GRE to compensate for that and get as much volunteer work in as I can and more work experience. I still have medical terminology in the Fall, but that is only 1 unit and won't raise my GPA much at all. I hope to get mostly As this semester, but I am taking 16 units so we'll see.

Any advice would be awesome! thanks

Best of luck to every other applicant out there. My biggest piece of advice for future students is to apply as early as possible. I applied last year and got rejected from every school I applied to, and I applied much earlier than I did before and heard nothing but good news. I feel so relieved and thankful for where I'm at now, and I would be happy to offer any advice to future OT applicants. Cheers everyone!
