hello, I am currently a D2 student. My plan after graduation was just start working, but now that I have some clinical experience, I think it would be better for me to get some more education after dental school.

what are some pros and cons of GPR vs AEGD. All i know is GPR programs tend to pay and more of a working/learning experience, whereas AEGD, you have to pay tuition and is more of a school setting.
and what are the things that i should consider when i actually decide on a particular program.
is there a list of GPR/AEGD that are offered in the US?

Please enlighten me in this topic. Thanks in advance!

You do not have to pay tuition for AEGD. Wherever you go, it's what you make of it (in terms of being a learning experience). GPR tends to be more hospital-based, and AEGD resemble private practice more-- but there are exceptions of each... some GPRs (like Rancho Los Amigos Rehab Center in LA) resemble private practice as well.

And the salaries don't vary much - as a resident you don't make very much money (but don't get me wrong, if you're financially responsible it's more than livable - I just meant in relation to people working in private practice). Specifically GPR/AEGD I believe they generally are similar. You can find a list of programs by specialty here: http://programpages.passweb.org/search

While I'm generalizing, another thing to consider is that with GPRs you often get exposure to the various specialties that you won't see with AEGDs. Patients tend to be more medically compromised in GPRs vs AEGDs.
