So I have laid out my undergrad and grad GPAs.. Undergrad needs serious help, grad is great. Both of these are in hard ( U=Chemistry, G=Biology with research) science disciplines. . I am really interested in doing what i need to do to get into an MD program. So i am considering going back to undergrad to do 40 CH of work, Summer -Summer to improve my science GPA. Does this sound appropriate to plan to get the uGPA up to snuff? Will it look poorly to do this?

I understand that the uGPA is the most important so I really want to fix it before I even apply.

Has anyone else done this/had experience with this? The 40-50 CH of work will take my sci GPA up to a 3.4 and cum 3.0.. i think that + good MCAT+ good ECs+ experience.. I have.. i can get into either an MD or DO program. I'm fine with going either route.

I wouldnt know much but i have seen that ppl just do post bacc programs to prove they can handle upper division courses. Ive never seen anyone go back to undergrad after grad school. May not be the best idea.

I guess I'm just concerned as to how my uGpa will look. Granted undergrad was 6 years ago but still

you might be better off repeating the lower grades. if you don't mind going the do route, your gpa will shoot up a lot faster with grade replacement than it would with taking new classes. mathematically, averages don't move much after 120+ credits as new credits don't weigh as much to affect 360 hours of work.

I also did graduate school and am currently a post-bacc to increase my ugGPA. I think it is fine to do this. I have seen in the MSAR book that some allopathic schools will not consider your application if your ugGPA is not above a 3.0. So don't worry about it looking embarrassing. Main thing is you have to get As and get your GPA beyond the cut offs.
