So I've got a few questions to throw out there for you guys - mostly I'm looking for tips and such.

I'm going to be graduating in May with a B.A in Psychology from UConn. I'm hoping to be able to get into a Masters program geared towards clinical psychology, as I hope to be able to use that as a platform to get into a doctoral program afterwards. Right now my problems are these:

I have not yet taken the GRE, and I don't know when the GRE subject test is offered on campus. I haven't even written any of my personal statements or gotten letters of recommendation. Thankfully, there are a couple of schools that I'm looking at with April and June deadlines, so I'm not completely freaking out right now, because I feel that I have a good chance of getting into those two schools.

Anyway, I was a pre-med student for the first two years, but then realized that I was out of my mind and really couldn't handle the stress or make the grades that I was looking for. As a result, my GPA was hurt pretty badly, and I've been spending the past year and a half trying to repair it. Currently, I have a 2.7 cumulative, and a 3.2 in Psych. I pulled off a nice 3.4 this semester, despite one dreadful class that I was taking.

I guess what I'm getting at is this: are there any of you out there that were able to get into a Masters program with less than ideal credentials? I have very little in terms of extracurriculars, but I'll be doing undergraduate research on hypnosis next semester with a fantastic professor. I've also been corresponding with the director of the psych program at one of the schools that I'm interested in, so I'm hoping that will help me out a little bit.

I plan on getting ALL of my applications, personal statements, statements of purpose, etc. done this month that I'm off from school. My letters of recommendation I hope to get from a couple professors of mine/past employers once school is back in session - so I would imagine that I should have everything I need (minus the GRE subject test) in time for a February deadline that I'm hoping to meet.

If anyone could throw some insight my way, that would be fantastic. I know I'm asking a lot in a single post, but I'm seeking many answers. Thanks in advance!

I only took the general GRE because the subject was only offered 3x a year: april, nov, and dec.

yea, I know the schedule for it is pretty inconvenient, but one of the schools I'm looking to get into requires it as part of the application. I emailed the director of the program to see if I can make some sort of arrangement with them regarding that, so I'm waiting on a response for that.
