So, I have been thinking about this recently, when I took physics 1 the first time, I had a D, took it again, got a C, which for my school is passing because they replace the first course. However, the "average" of the two is a C-, which my understanding is not a "passing" grade. Is this going to screw me over for a prereq or will they likely take the second grade? It was 12 years ago, and I'd really rather not have to take it again 😛 Thanks for the input!

You want to take it again for the MCAT if for no other reason.

without me scouring the aamc website (which i recommend you do), i feel that if there is a minimum grade for a prereq they are looking for one of your grades to be 'at least the minimum'. but BOTH will factor into your sGPA so the D will be there.

also, if this stuff really was 12 years ago you need to look at specific schools' websites that you may want to apply to. some have explicitly stated lifetimes for prereqs and i do not know how hardcore they are about it, especially if you don't have more recent stuff to kinda speak to your ongoing ability to handle that kinda work... anyways just read up on it bc you might end up needing to retake just because they expire :/

I'm not worried about recent coursework, I have a PB sGPA of 3.85 after 75 credits... Which is all recent work, I also know none of the schools I'm looking at have any time limits for coursework... Ed, I will more likely pay to take an MCAT prep course if I need to vs taking those classes again...

Yeah, if you have higher level physics, then simply being reminded of ray-tracing might be sufficient. After many years away from physics and with no other science courses, I needed to completely take physics I again. I couldn't remember the formula for constant acceleration.
