I want to repeat Gen Chem I but not take the lab component part of the class, would the second attempt be fine for repeat purposes? The Chem dept doesn't require you to repeat the lab component if you've already passed it.

On the transcript it shows up as Gen Chem I : 4 Credits.

The lab component is incorporated, and not separate. The repeat would show up exactly the same.

You answered your own question, but thanks for sharing your thoughts about the matter.👍

I meant, would AACOMAS have any way of knowing that I didnt do the lab component in the repeat? It's at a different institution, and they have the option of exempting the lab component, as long as you passed it the first time.

Original = lec and lab separate. Retake = combined. You'll only get credit for retaking the lecture. That's assuming the retake is an equal or greater number of credits.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, the original was combined(4 credits) and the replacement is also combined(4 credits), however they will exempt me from having to do the laboratory component provided I passed the lab in the previous attempt.

How would AACOMAS know the difference? They would not. Look, I pulled an OP.

Oh I see. AACOMAS has no way of knowing unless the school adds a notation onto your transcript.

As long as it is OK with the professor, AACOMAS wouldn't have any idea. If it is the same professor, he might not care. I had a physics professor like that. If it is a different professor, they probably grade according to lab so he/she might have a problem with it. But if you can get it done, you are golden.

How will they grade you, then? Your entire grade based on lecture? I think that's unwise considering most people get a grade bump with lab, but if you're confident without, go for lecture only.

@Triage, yeah they would grade you just on lecture, which isn't so bad. I'm fairly confident in my Gen Chem now

Not having to attend lab would be awesome.
