Hi guys, I have a question. I go to a university that operates on the quarter schedule. I heard from my premed advisor that in order to get grades replaced, I need to take courses from another school that operates on the quarter schedule. Is that true? That's bad news for me, because there aren't that many quarter schedule colleges, and the one I want to go to for post bacc isn't one either.

That is not true. @Goro and other friends here on SDN already said this multiple times.

If you want to retake a class that is 4 units in quarter system, then you can look for a college that offers the same class with the same amount of units in quarter system university.

If you want to retake a class at a semester system university or community college, you can retake it there as long as the retake course has equal or more units than the previous course.
3 Semester units > 4 quarter units.

If anything, you can call or email aacom for better information.

grade replacement is allowed for retake course under one condition, credit hours have to be equivalent to the previous course credit hours. AACOMAS will do the conversion at their end whether it is quarter system/semester system. All you need to do is to find out from the school you choose to attend/take course whether their system is quarter system or semester system and look up the conversion chart on AACOMAS website.

Let's hope that is the case under the new AACOMAS platform. The podiatry app uses the same new platform and we were responsible for the quarter conversion. I didn't know that and submitted the pod app. They verified it without catching the error on one of my transcripts and sent it to schools with the wrong GPA.

This is not entirely accurate. In order to qualify for replacement a course must be equal to our greater than the original course's credit hours. They must also be the same level (UG vs. grad) and the same or similar content.

Just want to make sure we avoid confusion.

According to AACOMAS website"Repeat:Courses repeated for academic improvement orgrade change must be listed each time taken. Repeated coursework MUST be equivalent to the original course in course content and credit hours to be used as a replacement.""
