First off, I've not seen the app for MD, or DO, but I plan on applying in the next ~3 years, as I'm just entering an MPH program.

MD schools, as far as I can tell, totally separate Ugrad, and Masters gpas, and seem to barely weigh the m-gpa at all.

DO- grades can be replaced (if retaken), and I assume separate gpa columns for masters, and u-grad? How are they weighed?

thanks...

hey,

I find myself in a similar situation, although I'm applying this cycle. I just finished my 1st year of my MPH-Epi program at Emory. I spoke to the UNECOM admissions director at length earlier in the spring and asked this very question. His answer was vague but can be paraphrased as follows...

There's an undergrad column, a graduate/post-undergrad column and a cumulative column. These are all stratified by non-science, science and cumulative as well, so it's essentially the 3x3 table you would see if you started an AACOMAS app to check it out.

As for weighting, his opinion seemed to be just that, his opinion. When discussing GPA's from undergrad -> MPH he wanted me to demonstrated that I could be a succesful student at the graduate level. As for weighting, I think he sort of implied the undergrad science/overall was a "over/under" benchmark for screening out weak apps and getting a more in depth look at apps that pass this step. When they open it up and look at your cumulative GPA (including grad/undergrad) that is what would be considered the best "quantitative indicator" of academic performance.

Of course this could be completely different at other schools and certainly is for M.D. programs, but there is the answer I received from UNECOM.
