you all talk about what it takes for this school..yadda yadda.. I know that it is not soley numbers, but heck they do play a role, how do you find out what schools would be realistic for you? grade wise that is...also...did any of you meet with people to take tours or med schools a few years before actually applying, was that benifical??
thanks again,
Becca

You need to get a copy of the MSAR and look at some school's stats, and figure out which places are good matches for you. Find the aamc website and go from there!

As for tours before applying... it's not like colleges. The numbers of schools most applicants get into is less percentage wise than undergrad applications. I sat in on a morning's worth of lectures to see what I was getting myself into, but I think I'm in the minority. Hopefully the interview day will give you enough info on the feel of a school, etc., to help you make decisions when you get those All Important Letters.

Becca,

I will say that I visited a lot of the extrenious schools on my list to get a feel if I would like to go there or even live in the area. It was very helpful and even modeled my application process as to which schools were at the top and those that were backup.

Where do you get an MSR book?

The MSAR book is published by AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges), and I ordered mine off the AAMC website. I think it is under a link of publications.
