I had alot of extra AP credit that I used to get out of many of the required school electives. It doesn't make alot of sense for me to hang around so I'm applying this summer and graduating in 3 instead of the regular 4. My GPA is good and I'm taking the august MCAT, should shoot in the mid to low 30's. What do you guys think? Have any of you applied graduating in 3 and got in your first shot? At least receive a good amount of interviews? Thanks to dajimmers i'm going to update this a little bit. I've volunteered at a health care center and a free clinic. 1 submitted paper pending publication. Volunteered in 2 labs for research. President of a club and have done over 120 hours of reading to the disabled. Overall i have a 3.9 and 4. sci gpa. I think overall i'm a good candidate but I don't want my late MCAT (aug) and my graduating in 3 years to effect me too much. Sorry if that's a little bit much. Thanks for any help your able to provide.

I did the traditional 4 years, but I'm sure others will post with similar experiences. To help them out, though, I suggest mentioning your ECs as well. This is probably the biggest obstacle you may face: have you shown enough interest and experience with medicine, are you mature enough for medical school, do you have anything that distinguishes you from other applicants? Have you done any volunteering or shadowing, done any research, study abroad, anything like that?

I finished my undergrad in 3.5 and then went backpacking in south america. I think that you should go travel if you have time. It will round you out as a person, be great fun, and if nothing else will make a great conversation peice during your interview. I wish i had graduated in 3 so i would have more time to travel (6 months is barely enough).
PM me if you want.

I too am graduating in three years and will be applying this summer. As long as you have the grades, MCAT, and all that jazz, you should be ok. I do think it's important, though, to do something productive in the year in between. Good luck!

I'm graduating in 3 years too, I worry about some agism against me with the excuse that I don't have enough life exprience. However, i look older than I am, so I am usually treataed like that, so I just go with it. Works best with the ladies...lol.

you'll do great! i graduated in three also.
