Why do you want lower admissions standards just because your grandparents went to that particular school? Why should these schools discriminate for a son of a doctor over a daughter of a truck driver?
You people are as bad as URMs who take these handouts/quid pro quos from the schools. Actually, I would say worse because as wealthy as the average accepted URM is, legacy applicants are even wealthier.

Why do the children of privilege need special privileges when applying to med school. Make it on your own or do something else with your life. Affluenza is a serious childhood disease that has ruined alot of lives. Trust fund babies of the world, unite! The only thing you have to fear is the fear of losing that sleek BMW that you got as a high school graduation present.

Don't hate...just understand that that is how this country works
*leans in to steal some popcorn*I love how these threads so quickly degenerate into a shouting match. There's alot of pent-up aggression on these pre-med boards! 😛
It comes down to whether or not you want to give non-legacies "the kind of equality of treatment which we would want for ourselves."
If you think college admissions are your personal tool for social change or self-enrichment, then do not take my tax dollars. Pursue your agenda on your own dime.
Bear in mind that this is just an educated guess based on my recent experience...a friend of mine was rejected pre-interview from a med school where his father (a very prominent doctor turned very prominent politician) was an alum.
