GRE and vet school

Unfortunately, most schools choose the top applicants to interview... this includes factoring in your GRE score.

It is hard to say which schools place "less" of an emphasis on GRE. Like MIZZOU's point system, only 4% of your points go to your GRE score. But you will probably have a hard time getting that initial interview with a low score. Hopefully you have a high GPA or some cool experience to help set you apart from the hundreds of other applicants. It sucks but with this type of thing in state is your best bet because they look more into your application then just those initial numbers.

Thanks! I hadn't considered Missouri before, I'm going to look into it.
I actually have a lot of unique experiences and that's what sets me apart. I'm just worried that because of my test scores schools won't go further with my apps. Also my grades are average but I have taken high level science classes and earned A's in all of them. I'm just not confident because of my GRE and I wouldn't like to spend so much money and get rejected from every school so I wanted to know if anyone has gotten in with not so good GRE scores somewhere :/

How many times did you take the GRE? Did you take any GRE prep classes? I took mine 3 times and finally got 1100.... baseline is 1000 and I got into LSU and A&M and I turned down an interview at AUburn... so it's not always THAT important depending on the school, but 1000 is usually the baseline, so it'd be good to get over that...

average grades (depending on what you mean by this) and a sub par GRE score are probably going to be a bad combo. Usually it is best to have one offset the other (i.e. really high GPA to balance out a mediocre GRE score or vice versa). i wouldnt bank on unique experiences to get you that interview. not impossible, but not all that likely either

Maybe you could take the Kaplan course for GRE or study very seriously on your own and retake the GRE. Then you could put off applying this particular year and wait until next year and come in with some great scores. This way you won't put yourself through any rejection, disappointment and blow to your self-esteem if you don't get in anywhere this time. I'm not saying that you absolutely would not get in this time because I am not an adcom nor have I seen your application. I'm just thinking of what I would probably do based on what you've said. Best of luck in your decision.

I would definitely retake the GRE, especially if your quantitative is low.
