Can anyone give me advice in what books to get to study for the GRE exam...

Hi there!

Are you a student or affiliated with a school? I am asking this because most schools keep GRE books in their career centers and libraries. The idea is this - it's hard to tell which ones to choose, without knowing you and what you are looking for. Also, different people liked different books. If you need math practice for example, I would suggest an extra math workbook... Go to a library or even a bookstore and browse through them. I personally would not recommend using just one company to prepare.
Your first step (if you haven't done this yet) should be going to ets.org and taking a practice test. They are very good at assessing your score, especially the quant. one. You can probably go from there. If you need more information, please feel free to PM me. Good luck!

I was in need of a major math review and I am finding that the Cliff Notes Math Review for Standardized Tests to be very helpful. You can find it HERE. It is inexpensive.

I also agree with the previous post, take a practice test and see what areas you need to focus on. It will help you narrow down the kind of books that will help you improve your score.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that:

number2.com is a good starting resource. the tests are easier than the real thing, but they show you where you make mistakes, you learn tricks and it's free.

Also, sparknotes has a free GRE guide online. ETS has a math review guide. Also great starting point. If you have the time, start from there, and then look for a book that will help you go over 1200.

I liked Kaplan for math. I forget which books I used for the verbal. For most of my verbal review, I actually just entered the "most commonly tested" vocab words from the books into flashcards on this website.
