While this seems to be so insignificant now that such tragedy has occured, I would like any thoughtful responses.

I am scheduled to fly (assuming airports open) from Boston to DC Monday night for a Tuesday interview. I am planing to call GW on Friday to get a feel what they believe is best...but to tell you the truth, I am very scared. Not only would I be flying in two of the three cities where tragedy occured, I will be flying on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

I don't want to be fearful, b/c that is what the terrorists would want, but at the same time, getting into medical school is something that I (and assume most of you) have been working towards for many years.

I realize I may be babbling--and for that I apologize. I just keep hoping to wake up from this nightmare.

My prayers go out to all the people and their families and loved ones that were victims.

I'm flying on Monday also. I'm not worried. But I promise you this. If somebondy tries to take over the plane, they are going to have to kill me first.

I figure if such a situation were to happen, I would die regardless of if I cooperate with the hijacker or not so might as well try to save as many lives as possible.

i also have an interview next tues...i just called and cancelled my flight...luckily twa offered a full refund...then i called gw and rescheduled my interview.

twa told me that they would most probably be flying by mon night, but it is going to be so chaotic, that it is not worth it to me...plus my parents flat out told me that going to dc right now is unsafe...i dont know how true this is, im sure you guys will be fine...but anyway, thats what i did, good luck to all those next going next tues...have a good interview and safe flight 🙂

cubsfan, your not the only one. i have an interview next thursday. what I wanted to do was wait til friday to see how things are going to see if the school is still gonna interview, or if they are rescheduling. hope everything goes well for everyone.

Let's see..I have a total of 6 connections from monday through thursday next week!
Damn...I can't reschedule those interviews...
I hope it gets all better...

Hi all. I'm stranded in New Orleans, just had my Tulane interview today. I was the only one there. 9 people cancelled. I got here Monday before the disaster. I am stranded until I can return to LA and am supposed to fly to GW Tuesday night. My GW interview is on Thursday. I am planning that flights will fully resume before then. If I can't make it back to LA by the weekend. I'm thinking about bagging the trip back and just driving up to DC from New Orleans, then returning to LA. Is this crazy? Any advice?

Ya I was one of those 9 people who rescheduled 🙂. It's a pretty long drive to DC (18 hours?), but I wouldn't worry about it because things should be back up by Monday, hopefully.

hey guys,

not to get big headed or anything, but i was listening to love line and adam carola made some sense to me with the following:

security is going to be hella beefed up, the following weeks are very likely going to be a lot safer to fly in that the previous ones. also, he gave an analogy of terrorist attacking a sleeping gaint, the gaint is very much alert right now.

with all of that said: what is tulane doing about interviews? i am suppose to be down there the 27th, is that going to change because of them trying to reschedule all of the people who had to miss?

any info appreciated and my best wishes to all.

Hi all, I live in the suburbs of DC, 10 min from Dulles Airport. It looks like Dulles and National are going to be closed to outgoing flights for a while. I don't know about Baltimore International(BWI). I would recomend you call the airline or travel agent to check about re-routing through BWI. As for safety, DC is safer now than it was 3 days ago. Every and I mean EVERY law enforcement and military office has people every where. My dad works for the gov't in an office next door to the CIA. I feel confident that he is safe. If you are really worried and just plain scared as many of us are and are expected to feel, the bus and the train run ino DC as well. I have take Amtrack from DC to New York as it is a short ride. Everyone is upset and ancy now, do what you feel comfortable doing. If your going to faint if you get on a plane then don't fly. No one will think less of you for it. Good luck and keep safe. Hug your neighbor today.
