does gwu give out alot of interviews, and then hold ppl; does anyone know how many interviewwes are accepted?

I heard that they send about 1000 interview invites and give acceptance to around 300sth...

GWU has already received 13000+ applications. They said that they will only be interviewing 1000 this year. About 1/3 of interviewees get accepted.

Is that 300 for the whole season? Like, if you've been waitlisted post-interview, what's the probability you'll get in?

according to their applicant pool last year, GWU interviewed 13.9% of their applicant pool, and accepted 39% of those interviewees, accepting a total of 5.4% of their applicant pool. I think it's really dependent on the rolling admissions cycle. If people turn down interviews, they offer interviews to more. If interviewees who are accepted turn it down, they offer interviews to more. So while I'm sure they have some type of average or standard, I think it's very hard to predict what their numbers will be for this year. Most of it depends on just how much applicants like GWU I guess... how many apply, how many take up interviews and how many people accept their admission if offered... so i guess those on hold can hope that those interviewed decide not to attend?

Why does GWU get so many applicants? 13k is ridiculous.

As someone mentioned earlier in this post, someone in the GWU Admissions office told me that they have received over 13000 applicantions this year (already an all-time high) and they received between 11,000 and 12,000 applications last year. They interviewed over 1,200 applicants last year and gave out offers to between 35-40% applicants who interviewed (someone earlier said 39% so that fits and might be the exact number). They have over 700 scheduled interviews or interview taken place (through sometime in January) and hope to interview around 1,000 applicants, so a few less than last time. Hopefully, that will mean a great chance of receiving an offer to those who get an interview. Last year, there was some movement off the waitlist, no movement the year before.

How long has it taken people to recieve notification of hold, interview, or rejection? I have been complete for 7 weeks and haven't heard a peep. 🙁 Thanks!

omg..I'm so excited. Just got an interview invite last week. This is one of my top choices and can't wait. I have a friend who works as a student interviewer and said those numbers are about right. They have a surge of applicants, but they maintain the 10% in interviewing and accepting about a third of those interviewers. Good luck everyone🙂

If the 300 number is from MSAR, then yeah, that includes those that got off the waitlist.
