Today I recieved an email from GW stating that my preliminary AMCAS application has been recieved, and that I may find their secondary application on the web at ... ? I tried to move the email from a junk mail folder to my primary folder, and it just disappeared!

If I contact GW directly, it could take too long to get a response. If anyone has received the same e-mail, could you please post it, or at least give the web address to the secondary application. Thanks in advance!

As far as I'm aware, they don't have an on-line secondary. They sent me a packet including the secondary about 2 weeks after that e-mail.

This is the link for the GWU secondary
The app is in pdf format

Just to be thorough, here is the e-mail

Dear GW Medical School Applicant,
We have received preliminary information from AMCAS regarding submission of
your AMCAS application to The George Washington University School of Medicine
and Health Sciences Doctor of Medicine Program. We very much appreciate your
interest in our program and would like to invite you to complete our secondary
application. This secondary application, as well as our admissions handbook,
is available immediately to you online at:
<a href="http://www.gwumc.edu/edu/admis/application.html" target="_blank">http://www.gwumc.edu/edu/admis/application.html</a>
As we offer interviews and admissions to our program on a rolling basis, you
are encouraged to download, print, complete and mail this application to us as
soon as possible. Please note that your secondary application cannot be
submitted electronically or by fax, as we require an original signature. If
you prefer to have a paper application and handbook mailed to you, please send
your name and mailing address to [email protected]. Please do not direct
questions to this email address as it is only monitored for mailing
information. If you have any questions after reading our email, web site and
secondary application, please direct them to [email protected]
Please read all of the instructions carefully on the secondary application and
note the following:
**We are requiring that all applicants for the fall 2002 entering class send a
stapled copy of their AMCAS application along with their secondary
application. (Secondary applications received without a printed copy of the
applicant's AMCAS application will be delayed) Please note that we have not
received any official, verified AMCAS applications to date.
**We have extended our application deadlines for the fall 2002 entering class.
The AMCAS application deadline is now December 1, 2001 and the Secondary
Application must be postmarked by January 1, 2002. However, due to our
rolling admissions process, it is in your best interest to complete your
application as soon as possible.
To prevent processing delays, please refrain from contacting our office to
verify receipt of your application. We will notify you upon receipt.
Thank you,
Office of Admissions
The George Washington University
School of Medicine and Health Sciences
Doctor of Medicine Program :)

I NEVER got that email from GW. I only received the secondary in the mail in paper format. I completed it and sent it in. I later sent them my AMCAS and MCAT scores...should be good enough but maybe that explaing why I have heard nothing from them. Whatever - if they want to screw around then screw them.

Glacial, I greatly appreciate it. That will save me a good deal of time. I wonder if the email and online secondary are new? I had never heard anything about them before.

Good luck applicants!

SeeGulz-
I received that e-mail on 10/1/2001.
From another e-mail I received, they said it was very important to send a copy of your amcas. I almost forgot to send it.

Good Luck :)
