It's nice to see your all up early. I just saw a profile on mdapplicants.com of a guy who was accepted off another school's waitlist on 6/3; he was holding a spot at GW and has since withdrawn.

More spots are open, it can't be long before we fill 'em. 😉

Same boat... I know of a few other people who are upper ech too, but I have a feeling the list will start to move soon (I hope)

i talked to them on monday or tuesday..all they said was that at this time they arent takin anyone but that they expect to see movement till mid-july

This is the 2nd year Ive been on GWU's waitlist....its definitely my top choice though Ive been accepted elsewhere. I remember waiting till late July last year as the movement seemed to be unusually slow last year. Good luck everyone, the admissions committee has always been really prompt with getting back to me whenever I had questions despite the huge number of ppl that they work with. Take care! 👍

I e-mailed them today and was told that the movement is expected to slow through the rest of the summer, but to still expect movement until classes begin.

I guess this should have been expected?

i don't think so...the last time i called i specifically stated how interested i was in gw and matt said ok i'll write that in your file or something like that. that's the only time he said that so I think it only got written in my file that I called that one time.

good luck. i've heard of people getting off in july..so don't give up hope!

Same here- they only wrote down my name when I said how interested I was in gw- and they would specifically ask my name (at the end of the convo) and mention they would note my call.

Keep showing your interest, don't give up!! Keep being agressive cuz you guys are almost there.. 🙂

don't get discouraged..i want to see all ya'll in class with me--just keep showing interest. don't stalk them but make sure they know if they give you a spot you'd be there in august. i'm pulling for ya! 😛

Just called the office again. They said the same thing to me, that movement is pretty slow right now, but that there may be a few spots that open up over the next few weeks.

I called as well... looks like a number of the admissions officers are out for the day. Though there wasn't much (if any) movement this week, the folks over at GW's admissions are by far the nicest and most candid people I have spoken with through this process.

Yeah, it really is amazing how nice they are. I just called the other 4 schools where I am waitlisted as well and one was absolutely rude, the other 3 were nice, but not as helpful, don't add anything to your file. Its like no matter who you get on the phone at GW they all are very comfortable to speak with. It makes me want to go there!

At this time the class is full. Any further
movement on the waitlist will depend on whether enrolled students choose to
drop from the class. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when or if this will

i wouldn't worry too much about housing. i had a friend who moved to dc and found a place one day and moved in the next. sooo, it might not be exactly what you want but you should be able to find a place. i'm going up first of july too look for a place because i can't get up there before then. i was worried about the same thing but I was told it was relatively easy to find a place in foggy bottom. i'm hoping they're right.

Yeah I got that letter and am still waiting too. Looks like it's not as "highly likely" that we'll all be accepted as they made it sound. Those ****ing bastards. Honestly, how could a school have the nerve to send out letters like that when they know how much stress we all have to go through anyway. I [am displeased with] Dean McQuail.

Come on people, lets not be too unprofessional... I have personally met with Dean McQuail, and she has said on numerous occasions that this year's lack of waitlist movement was NOT expected. Granted I am disappointed with the language that was used in the upper echelon letters, but the spots just aren't opening up... GW's admissions office has been by far the nicest and honest and I don't think that burning bridges is what future physicians ought to do...
