Just when I start to settle on a rank list, this comes up. Anybody have any additional information about this or know how it would affect the psych program in particular? As a prospective resident, do you think this should factor into ranking decisions? I would hate to have to go through what already happened at King-Drew.

Hm wow. I'd say that puts me in the same boat as you.

But just as an aside: let's think about how they plan on solving this problem. Let's deal with overcrowding by pulling funding and closing even more hospitals? Sounds a bit counterintuitive.

Re: The psych program... I'm assuming most of their inpatient case load comes in through the ER, and that with out a functioning psych ER the program would probably be in jeopardy. Hopefully someone with a bit more insight can chime in 🙂
