Whoo, page 16. What page do you think will contain the first acceptance? 16? 17? 20?

I think we'd know by the 21st at the latest... b/c then the financial aid website would be up and running.

Post-interview rejection received today in Boston. Dated 3/9 (ha).

Good luck to everyone waiting!

Edit: Sorry, I forgot. Got the login failed message. Wasn't expecting much, so I'm not too bummed. GL.

I'm sorry to hear that, but it looks like you have some other good options. I don't mean to be obnoxious or anything, but would you mind telling us what message you got on the financial aid site if you tried to log in?

MARCH 9TH????? 😡 That's lame. Sorry.

this thread is now going to explode. Tomorrow or the day after is my prediction. possibly page 18

Omegaxx,

are you a Leverkusen fan?? Just noticed the avatar. Thats awsome. There are not too many 'real' football fans or Bundesliga fans in the states.

good luck to you all!!!

It's because they always get their ass kicked by the Premiere League or Primera Division teams

wow- what a fantastic way to spend a beautiful saturday

Got the post-interview rejection today, in the Boston area. I also got the "bad" financial aid message.

I live in Oklahoma, so I might not get a rejection until Monday the 19th... I also got the login failed message the night before they shut the website down, even though I was on a Mac computer, I assume that doesn't matter really. 👎

do you think it is possible that someone will get an acceptance even after getting a login failed message? We should hope so, but clearly wouldn't bet on it.

Another post-interview rejection here in the Boston area. I also got the "Login Failed" message. Congrats to everyone who got the "Contact the Financial Aid Office" message, you guys seriously deserve it.

Man, three for three on the Boston area rejections.

Congrats to those who got in, and good luck to those waiting!! :luck:

could it be possible that those who got the bad message on teh financial aid website still be waitlisted? or do you guys think / know if hms does financial aid info for those on the waitlist (and thus some of hte ppl who got the good message may actually be on teh waitlist)....

To the fellows in Boston area who got the post-interview rejections today: What date were the envelopes postmarked? And were they priority, regular mail, etc.?

Good luck at your other schools!

Yup, a Leverkusen/Bundesliga/Germany fan here😍 I started watching football in 2002 and fell for the no-glorious-history-no-money-no-backing-teeny-city-teeny-stadium-still-whooping-Juve-and-Liverpool-and-ManU-up-and-down-the-field team:luck:

Oh poop, Bayern Munich just busted Real Madrid outta Champions League FYI😎

From what I heard, yes.

I honestly don't know how HMS narrows its 1000 interviewees down to 200. Seriously, every single interviewee I've encountered on my interview day and everyone in this thread are so qualified. They do an amazing job of pre-interview screening compared to all the other schools I know.

I really wonder if they just took the 20 Rhode-Scholar-Olympic-Medalist superstars, rejected the 20 socially inept interviewees that somehow slipped through the cracks, and put the rest in a superlotto system. It's really a crapshot at this point. Face it: we are all great ppl (yes, modesty is my forte:luck:) and will make great doctors no matter if we have the H somewhere on our record. 5 years down the road we'd all be saying, "Harvard who?"

Don't take me wrong, I'm a big fan of German football, but statistics speak for themselves, go to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Champions_League
and then click on "Records and Statistics". You will see that Germany is in 4th place behind Spain, Italy, and England and that Real Madrid holds the most number wins of any club and that Bayern Munich is in 4th place as well.

Nevertheless, the Germans always destroy Spain and England in national competitions.

Sorry about the bad news guys. I got the login failed too, so my hopes aren't high. Itrain, you got into UCSF, right? Is that #1?

Sorry to hear about your rejections, guys 🙁

I too got the bad message and live in Cambridge but have yet to get a rejection. There's still some hope for us bad message people :luck:

I'm very sorry about the rejections. I <3 everybody on this thread!

probably going to get flamed for this one but still:
when i said real football, i meant "foot"ball and not the egg-like-object tossing game w/ dudes in tights and helmets acting tough...thats what rugby is for..no helmets and tights, simply jersey's and shorts.

been a Borussia Dortmund fan since the glory days 1995, 96 bundesliga champs and 97 champions league winner vs Juve 3-1..however, they sort of suck now....agghhhh.

again, good luck all!!

good luck!

Yeah, I think the main problem is historically Bundesliga only had one super power, Bayern Munich. M'gladbach, Hamburg and Dortmund all had their times of glory but they never lasted.

Actually, I believe next year Germany is falling to the 5th or 6th place after France and Portugal, cuz that ranking is based on the stats for the past 5 years and Germany is only in 4th place because Bundesliga teams had such a great run in season 2001/2002.
Which means there will only be 2 Bundesliga teams in the Champions League final🙁 I sure hope Werder Bremen gets one of those spots.
Ah, nothing better than football to take our minds off the impending doom:scared:

Same goes for Bayer Leverkusen. It's sort of hard to find any shadow of the 2001/2002 team anymore🙁
It's a pity that Metzelder is going to Real Madrid🙁

> when i said real football, i meant "foot"ball and not the egg-like-object tossing game w/ dudes in tights and helmets acting tough...thats what rugby is for..no helmets and tights, simply jersey's and shorts.

My thoughts exactly. Why don't they just call it "hand"ball?:meanie:

What did the rejection letter envelopes look like? Regular and thin? Well, thanks for letting us all know so it won't hurt us as much when they arrive in places like the midwest.

I too got the bad message and live in Cambridge but have yet to get a rejection. There's still some hope for us bad message people :luck:

Now you have me all excited again. You better get an acceptance!

Because Americans beg to differ. Anyways, good to see some real football fandom here on SDN. Personally, I used to be a big New Castle United/Bayern Munich/ Valencia/ Juventus fan until I got here to the US and couldn't watch the games no more.

EDIT: everybody else on this thread is probably cursing us for discussing these trifle matters, but I do find them pleasantly distracting.

My contact inside HMS spoke to the financial aid people. They claim that nothing coming out of the website has any validity, that the system isn't running yet. It'll only mean something when you actualy log-in. It doesn't really explain why people get different messages, but that's what they say.

I prefer to believe this until I have a letter in hand in Oklahoma.

From what I heard, yes.

I really wonder if they just took the 20 Rhode-Scholar-Olympic-Medalist superstars, rejected the 20 socially inept interviewees that somehow slipped through the cracks, and put the rest in a superlotto system. I beg to differ: 5 years down the road, us rejects will be looking up to you all who are finishing up 1st year of residency in Boston/NY/Cali 😳

And keep up the soccer (oops strike that, football) talk. We need more pleasant distractions here as the tension builds ...

Rejection letter just came to me too (I live in Boston), and i had the "login failed". the letter is very very thin, and has your name visible thru the see-through window (classic mass mailing style). it was dated March 9th, like a previous person said.

Weird thing is, they say they had an unexpected jump in applications-- but the letter only says 5500 applicants, which is actually lower or on par with previous which had also around 5000-6000 applicants. weird.

but this year was at least nicer than last year and encouraged you to come back to Harvard as a resident or fellow.

sorry to those who got the not-so-great letter today -- the thin rejection letters were definitely the ones i saw getting picked up late on thursday. did see some of the larger manilla envelopes but dont think they had been assembled yet. my guess is those will go out monday or tuesday.

It definitely makes me sad to see so many great people (well, at least great based on my impression formed via SDN) receiving rejections. I am, however, reassured by the fact that you are all going to receive your medical education from other amazing schools.

wow. last year's thread is repeating itself... as soon as letters started arriving the thread just died. i guess people are either too excited or too depressed to post now.

come on, people! let's at least lock this one out at 1000 posts and go down in the annals of history!

Since Harvard obviously knew about the financial aid loophole after last year, they probably did not update it completely or really in its entirety for this years applicants. On this thread, there were about three people who got the "good" message, and all of a sudden we lost hope? I think we should wait until the letters are in our hand. The login failed message was the same for a long time, and so maybe they shut it down on Thursday because that's they day they put all 200--something accepted applicants' SOC and AAMC ID into the system.

Good luck to everyone. I will let you know what letter I get. 🙄

there was a poll a few days ago-- from about 100 votes, approximately 25-30% who got the "good message", so there were indeed a sizeable number who got either message. and the 25-30% that parallels post-interview acceptance rates suggests the message is likely indicative.

but then again, maybe i'm just being a "debbie downer" after my rejection letter (or maybe "debbie upper" depending on perspective)

There are at least ten people w/ good messages that posted, and many more w/ "failed" messages (three already got a rejection letter). However, I do agree that nothing is done until the letter is in your hand.

How about more football talk: Is Beckham's move to the U.S. indicative of the mass migration of washed-up ex-euro players that is to come? Or are they simply trying to find a place to earn some extra cash and play professional football w/ high school-like competition (to nurse their bad knees)?

I'm not really sure. It could be, but one Beckham isn't really indicative of anything. The truth is that MLS isn't regarded as highly as some of the European leagues and all we can and probably will attract are the ex-euro players, since the current ones don't want their level of play to drop. Also, the American teams aren't as rich as their european counterparts and can't afford to bring 10 Beckhams over, just 1 😀

Edit: I'm not partaking in the letter conversation because I won't get home until Tuesday, but good luck to all the guys who got the bad message. May we all get waitlisted if not accepted.

i'm sure the thread will explode again on Wednesday...

Other topics until the letters come:

Who likes Nintendo Wii?

How about any former crosscountry runners?

Did anyone like the new movie 300?

Sundays...😀

Other topics until the letters come:

1. Who likes Nintendo Wii?

2. How about any former crosscountry runners?

3. Did anyone like the new movie 300?

Sundays...😀

1. I don't know...give me one and I'll tell you😉.

2. I run marathons (so a fellow long-distance runner).

3. My husband went and he loved it. I'll eventually see it.

*I don't know a think about football*

Three new questions:

1. Anyone else married?

2. Last non-school related book you read?

3. Anyone seen Reno 911!: Miami?

1. Anyone else married?

2. Last non-school related book you read?

3. Anyone seen Reno 911!: Miami?

1. Nope, still free.

2. Ummm....Goodnight Moon, maybe? Pleasure reading is an oxymoron.

3. Yes, I wasn't impressed. I pretty much don't like comedy movies because they have a horrible plot. It had its moments (blowing up the whale), but overall a dissapointment. I went with 3 other people and there was a total of 8 people in the theatre. They probably set a record low for gross $.

As to the other message thing, it's going to take somebody who got the "good message" to receive a rejection letter to convince me. Everything has supported this theory so far.
