Has anyone applied to Harvard's Public Health program in SHDH (Society, Human Development and Health)? Or just to Harvard Public Health in general and could give me some advice please?

My Stats:
GPA:3.85
Major: Microbiology/Communication
Minor: Medical Humanities
LOR: great (so they say, and I trust them 🙂)
Experiences: three years in the ER, a year of laboratory research, a year of Health Communication research, various volunteering in medical and non-medical related expreriences, attended medical and non-medical national conventions, president of LPE honors society, and other things that I am sure many applicants have...
GRE: taking this Tuesday (hope to score around a 1300 or so)

Please, I would appreciate any feedback on previous experiences at Harvard and what I could do to be competitive. I know that Harvard is currently ranked 2nd along with UNC, and their GRE scores were about 1230 average. If I scored in this range would I be competitive for Harvard? Any additional comments would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to be another one of those what are my chances threads...but this is my first for the MPH program! 🙂

No one has any information about harvard, huh? I could use any advice, please!🙂

Was your ER and research experience gotten while you were an undergraduate, or have you worked since graduating? Harvard is one of the schools that's pickier about its MPH program and doesn't like to admit people fresh out of undergrad, except in special circumstances. They prefer people with MDs or substantial post-graduate work experience. If you have the work experience and Harvard has what you're looking for, go for it! If you don't, they do have other master's degree programs for people with less experience, or you could look into an MPH elsewhere. Good luck!

Does anyone know about what they look for in med student applicants (I mean med students who are applying for the MPH program)? Since med students usually don't have as much experience, what do they look at?

from speaking with the other md/mph students in the program, most of us have demonstrated interest/potential in public health (research, volunteerism, leadership activities, etc) before and during medical school. Some of my friends who were not admitted were lacking in some of these areas.
