Has anyone compounded LCD in triamcinolone lately??

Our pharmacy reference books suck Does anyone have a compounding recipe book with LCD 10% in triamcinolone 0.1% in it? I guess I am supposed to use coal tar usp solution for this, but I have no idea where to start I still can't find anything online for some reason. I would really appreciate it if someone could share this information with everyone here

LCD is Liquor Carbonis Detergens or Coal Tar Solution USP which contains 20% Coal Tar in an alcoholic solution.

The preparation is very simple:

• Weigh the TMC
• Measure the Coal Tar
• Place the TMC on your ointment slab
• Slowly levigate the LCD into the TMC
• Transfer to an ointment jar.

Creams are better than ointments as 10% LCD in ointment formulations tend to lay on the top of the ointment and don't always remain dispersed throughout the preparation.

Weigh the correct amount of triamcinolone (base, I'm assuming) and place in a mortar. Measure out the correct amount of coal tar, and triturate the triamcinolone powder. Quantitatively transfer to a precalibrated container, QS with distilled water.

Label shake well, may stain clothing, smells like anus.

Oldtimer, if I remember correctly, the prescription only said LCD 10%/TMC 0.1% ointment; 4oz (or something like that).

• I am guessing 10% LCD in 4oz of TMC/final product.
• LCD amount needed to make 10%= 0.1 x 4oz x 28.35g/oz =11.34g
• LCD comes in 20% equals 20 x 10mg/ml = 200mg/ml
• I will need 11.34g x ml/0.2g= 56.7ml of 20% LCD???

That looks really wrong... How am I supposed to put almost 2 fl oz of LCD in 4oz ointment???
