Has anyone declined an offer and then reapplied the next year?

I was accepted at utmb galveston but I am 2 classes short of a double major, when I turned in my application I was still on track to get the double major, so I feel like I should finish it but I'm not sure if I would be able to get accepted a second time

Is there a reason you want to complete your double major other than it being an accomplishment? If you're wanting to go to PT school, I don't see why you would decline an offer to go to PT school. Do you have awesome stats and know you will get in somewhere, possibly not the same school, next year?

PT school isn't easy to get into, so I personally would never decline an offer just to finish a specific major, but I don't know your situation. I can't really speak to the applying-to-the-same-school part of it, but my gut says that doesn't seem like they would consider it a great move.

I feel like my application is a lie since it said I would have the two majors but now I will not. I don't think the school realizes that my degree plan has changed and I'm unsure if they can change their offer based on this.
My GPA is 3.88 and I have just over 300 hours, if I declined I would get more hours before applying again. But I am not picky about what school I go to, so if I were to get into another school next year I would have no hesitation about accepting.
I also recently found out I have another year of eligibility for college soccer. My entire reason for wanting to go to PT school is that when I can no longer play soccer I want to be able to help other athletes return to there sport. Now I could possibly keep playing and it is making this decision even more difficult because soccer has been such a big part of my life and is the reason for me wanting to go into this profession.

I guess another question is, are you going to be graduating regardless of those two remaining classes? You will obviously need a bachelors degree completed before matriculating into any PT school, so the school may have accepted you conditionally, with the condition being that you complete your degree. Just a thought that you may want to check on with the school. Otherwise, the school likely doesn't care if a major was changed, as long as you have your prereqs completed.

But you basically have to decide what matters to you. You will need to let go of soccer at some point and I'm sure you could find an intramural league too. I have a feeling almost all of the answers here would be that you should go to PT school, since there's no guarantee that you will get it.

You want to delay grad school and a year of PT salary because you want to play soccer and get a double major.. I highly doubt where you got accepted cares about your double major unless it required prereqs that you have yet to finish for PT school (chemistry, physics, etc.) Think about the money you are losing out on by making that decision. But I'm sure someone would love to have your spot!

If you want to reject it this cycle and reapply next year, on every additional questions/essay questions on ptcas it said "if you are reapplying explain how you have strengthened your application" or something along those lines. In that space you could write that they accepted you last cycle and you wanted to get a double degree and apply again this cycle with additional hours. If you explain your situation I don't think it would look bad if you show youre highly interested in their program. The only issue is that they may be skeptical giving you an acceptance since you have rejected them in the past

As someone who also contemplated doing a 5th year to play out eligibility, in retrospect i'm really glad I didn't. Your school doesn't care about your degree plan. You just need a degree in general. The "cost" for you to play soccer another year and take 2 classes is likely astronomical. Unless you need that last year to make a bid to turn pro, I don't think it's worth it. You can be a full year further in PT school and a year closer to being done and with a salary. College sports feels big at the time, but then not so important as time passes.
