Has anyone rejected their offer and then asked for it back?

Im just curious to know if anyone was offered admission, then denied it...and months later, asked if it was possible to be accepted again? Sounds funny, and I know there are hundreds of people on the waitlist usually, but has this ever happened to anyone? Heard of any stories where it has happened and they let them back in? or put them at the top of the waitlist or something?

I doubt you would even be placed on a waitlist after you decline. Plus your appt is probably given to someone else the minute you decline.

Actually, a guy in my class did just that. He declined his acceptance and then later in March I believe (program starts in June), he contacted our program chair to ask if he could have his spot back and he did
