I have a problem. I have a 222 form for Hydrocodone-apap 20 pills, to return. It is an outdate, but I don';t have the drug.
I am a new pharmacy manager, I am not sure if the old pharmacy manager started the claim, or what...But I have 222 form and I need to return 20 pills of Hydrocodone-apap of specific NDC, but I have no pills to return...
What should I do?

Scenario 1: Tried to call local DEA office today, they put me through to diversion officer but she did not answer the phone.
Should I keep trying with the DEA?

Scenario 2: Get 20 pills of Hydrocodone-apap of the NDC that I have and return that? But I have no stock bottle...And the pills look differently...That probably would not be a super good idea...

Any suggestions?

Put a zero on the form and send an empty vial.

If you read the paperwork that comes with return packet, it says you can return quantity less than you intended. Just write in the right amount you are returning. Zero.

But if that is the only item on return, nothing for you to do. The form is only good for 2 months I believe.

Thank you so much!
Can I get in trouble if I have a lot of discrepancies like that?

I doubt it. Sounds like it was from previous PIC. But where are the actual drugs you were supposed to return and why discrepancies? You can get in trouble for not reporting c2 inventory discrepancies. So you need to make sure there is a record of them being dispensed. That is pretty much the main reason why you should have no drug to return.
