I disagree.

oh really? it really doesn't seem like you do.....

OBRA 90 mandates that pharmacists must offer to counsel Medicaid patients for new prescriptions as part of a DUR plan.

yep that was my point

What I meant by my "so much for OBRA 90" comment was that this women wasn't complying with the rule.

are you a medicaid patient?
She was asking me to sign off on a refusal for patient counseling without giving me an opportunity to read the agreement before signing.

its your responsibility to read anything you sign... if she went to fast, and you were uncomfortable with that... why not ask her to go back so you could read it?

Sorry I misspoke. I should have said "So much for Michigan Board of Pharmacy Administrative Rule 20 compliance."

hmm.... guess so.....

Alabama has a similar ruling inspired by OBRA 90. It reads, "In the best interest of the public health, the patient must be offered counseling for all new prescriptions and, where appropriate, for refill prescriptions." (Rules of the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy, Chapter 680-X-2, Section 21: "Patient Counseling").

oh really??? DAMN i KNEW they forgot something in law class..... Holy Crap! I'm going out to the school right now and demanding my money back!!!!!!!

Of course, I am not actually in Pharmacy School, so what the hell do I know.

i understand the point you are trying to make... that after obra 90 other similar laws were formed however that does not change the fact that obra 90 does not mandate EVERYONE be offered to counsel

if you would like to continue to quote law to me then please feel free... i can pull out my notes from class in pharmacy school and let you know anything and everything that was said in my classes.

Sounds good. I'll pull out my notes too, I got an A in the class.

ok....

you had a pharmacy law class in undergrad?

You're right, I'm wrong. Have a nice night.

Oh lord....

...to shift gears: I had a physics test yesterday, and it was TEH SUCK!

I hope I hear from UNC before I get my physics grades back 🙁

And a lady totally fussed me out at work today -- over Claritin D. We have box-sizes of 20 for the 12-hour Claritin D, but the cutesy little cards you take back to the pharmacy say box size of 30 (even though the price tag notes 20). After ranting about how ridiculous it was that she has to buy PSE products from behind the pharmacy counter, she told me that "if you don't have the product in stock, then you don't need to have the card out front saying that you do." Touche. Now, we're a new store and don't have everything yet, since Target limits the number of PSE products you can have in stock. But it's not that we were totally OUT of Claritin D 12-hour, we just didn't have the right size. Pretty much everyone has been like "Oh, box of 20 is okay too, I just need something now". I politely offered to refer her to our general store manager if she would like to address the issue with him, but she just walked away from me.

Another guy needed a prior auth for something and when we informed him as such, he shouted "this is all just a bunch of bureaucratic bullsh*t! surely my doctor wants me to have the medicine if he wrote for it! i need to have my medicine now!"

I would have been more inclined to agree with him, if the script weren't dated for 4 months ago. And if it weren't for Lamisil. AND if there hadn't been persistent mention of a gift card in the preceding conversation.

ok...
so my pharmacy's policy is to sell syringes without a rx for $7.50....

well
someone came in today wanting some... i refered to the rph just to ensure that she wanted to sell them...

they were for his mother and he had no rx....

ok
fine

they were a little over $8 after tax...
he starts going off on me on how does it feel to be a complete and total rip off and we're robbing him...

i just smiled and he bought them and left....

we are the only pharmacy that will even sell them without an rx within a 15 mile radius

he should be glad that he even has anything to shoot up with tonight

Boo to UNC. It turns out that if I didn't do so hot on the October PCAT, the best chance I have of getting in is the waitlist, cuz the January PCAT is too late. 🙁

My rant is "UF TAKES TOO TOO LONG TO TELL US IF WE GOT ACCEPTED THEY ARE SOOOO QUIET UNTIL, well it may be too late to go applying anywhere else....."
I am in plan B mentality because I'm just trying to protect my self-esteem.
and IT SUCKS TO FEEL LIKE THAT!

I asked 4 people to write an LOR just in case one flakes. Up until now, only one has been received. 😡
I have two wonderful professors writing letters for me, but the third is SUPPOSED to be from my boss. Guess who hasn't had the courtesy to fill one out? If he doesn't want to recommend me, SAY it. I can find someone else. But, there are things called deadlines, and he has missed them. Way to have my back... 😡

I bet you do a lot better than you think you will.

I went in taking it with the mentality that I would just take it again if I screwed it up, and left feeling like I failed it.

I scored in the 94th percentile.

Don't worry girl! You'll be fine! 😀

Thanks for cheering me up... I left a few blank on the chem section though, and I NEVER do that (leave stuff blank) so I know I didn't do well. Here's hoping I get at least a 50 percentile in that section!

I have bronchitis, I lost my voice and I have an interview this Saturday. :scared:

Resuscitating this one...

I've been shadowing a clinical pharmacist and his residents for several months now and I have a good relationship with him. He seemed very excited to write me a letter of recommendation when I asked him. I gave him all the materials a couple of months ago. I've kept in contact with him and continue to do shadowing.

So I get an e-mail forward from him today with a letter that he had written to the head of the admissions committee at the school I'm applying to plus another pharmacist that he knows, stating that he will "soon be sending a formal letter," but that he wants to put in a good word for me ahead of time. This is good, and I appreciate it. I'm sure that he will write me a nice recommendation. BUT THE LETTER IS DUE TOMORROW! As in, not postmarked by 2/1/06, but received by 2/1/06. I'm starting to freak out here...

What should I do? I can't really ask for special consideration just because of a bit of procrastination. :scared:
